    Hi,

I am filling the online annual retention form for IMC.
There is slight confusion in one of the questions there:
Do you have medical indemnity cover for all healthcare services
you provide? [See paragraph 50.1 of the Council's Guide to
Professional Conduct and Ethics] NOTE: CIS covers work in a
hospital and would be sufficient to meet the requirements and
    therefore the answer is "Yes"

I work as SHO in a Regional hospital, so is the answer YES
    in my case?

    Thanks

As long as you don't do any locum work in other hospitals or out side your own rotation/speciality, though.....

I am not doing locum at the moment, but trying to get 6 months locum after July in a hospital. Is locum work not covered? I will be doing the 6 months rotation in my own specialty only though.

I would get advice on that from the IMO if you are a member and directly from the HSE if not. Personally (and am of a generation who predated CIS ;) I've always had MPS/MDU cover and would have in addition to CIS even today)

CIS will cover you if you are on a HSE contract (ie working for a HSE hospital or voluntary hospital).

If you are working for a locum agency you will need your own insurance, CIS won't cover you. MPS isn't the cheapest!

Best clarifying this will your employer when the time comes to choose your job.
