Inconsistency in people. You know the type who will chat the ears off you one day, full of banter and smiles, and then another day you'd barely get an acknowledgement from them. WTF is that about? I know we can't all be happy and chatty every day, but why the complete opposite? Depression?

I do that. The reason is that you don't want to establish a pattern of chatting the ears off the person and to be annoying so you leave it up to them to start the conversation at times. Sometimes I am not in the mood for a chat or actually could be very busy.

People who allow children to become seriously over weight, so, so, so wrong.

If you ask me its child abuse and parents should be treat the same as if they had continually beat them around the place day in day out.

It's not the parents, it's ads for cheese that make kids fat, hence them being banned.

The damage is done from an early age. The first two years are most important. Its is a slippery slope but tbh those parents simply do not understand what is good and bad for the child. I used to eat whatever I felt like and a lot of people are like that. Food education is very poor in schools with some schools actually selling junk food.

[I know this is going to make me sound like an a$$hole but]
As my daughter know no better she asks for greek natural yogurt, strawberries, pineapple, avocado etc. She sleeps the full night and my wife wakes me up more than her. Her diet is much better than mine.

He biggest ask is greek natural yogurt aka "daddies yogurt" as she things she is doing me out of something but for a teething child there is nothing more enjoying.

Good food is expensive in Ireland. Simple as. Yes you may say you can get x,y cheaper but not everyone can shop in 8 different shops.

The BBC's coverage of the Diamond League. Now I know they deserve credit for actually showing it but why do we need to have so much talking from Gabby and Denise??! So many of the field events were missed and instead we had those two yakking on for a lifetime. Eurosport is so much better even with the crappy ads.

Of course not. My cheek was sore my tongue was so firmly stuck in it. But that was one of the proposed items to combat obesity, ban advertisements for cheese.

I think it was to ban ads for items with high fat content, and then people pointed out that included cheese

I know, I was trying to, and obviously failing at, point out the fallacy of the proposed advertisement ban in order to try combat obesity when it's obvious that kids don't go and shop for themselves based on what they see on tv, and the fact that cheese would have been included.

that applies to about 55% of them to be fair. James Corden a comedian ? Surely the basic qualification is to be funny ?

I thought he was fine when he was in Gavin and Stacey, but since then I just don't like the bloke. I was greatly upset to see him on an episode of 9 out of 10 Cats does Countdown. Only 2 people can ruin that program, James Corden and Phil Jupitus.

The Doha, Shanghai and Eugene meets were awesome, as it was only online so no Colin Jackson and Gabby Logan fawning over Bolt for half the show. Now that the show hits Europe, we are back to complete disregard for field events. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.

Agreed. But him in particular. Swearing and shouting in a forced scouse accent is about as funny as a dose of the clap!

What bugs me is parents who don't listen to their young children when their young children tell them that they are full, or that they aren't hungry. This attitude from parents that they must finish all their food? Madness. Children have brains and stomachs for a reason. Listen to them for chrrissake!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

I can only assume you don't have kids ? I'm full or I'm not hungry is something they will always tell you if they want to get back to playing about, or just don't want to eat what you've given them. In my case anyway it rarely means they're really full, you can always tell when it's genuine.

 If I let my two stop eating when they tell me they are full/not hungry they would be long dead from malnutrition!!

I am well aware that not always they are actually full, and that sometimes they do need encouragement. But many times it's a case of the parent not listening to the child and not understanding the simplest concept of a brain and a stomach working! It's ridiculous.

F*ckers on motorbikes who think rules of the road don't apply to them. One guy is lucky to be alive today, and I'm lucky to have my cars bodywork as it should be!

I'm sure the deceased's family would have compensated you for your paintwork. ;)

Worth bearing in mind that not all motorcyclists are the same, and most motorcycle fatalities are caused by oblivious car drivers. Note the stress on the word 'most'. There are indeed terrible motorcyclists. But there is a substantially larger number of oblivious dangerous car drivers.
