Taking my silver coins into Ireland

Hi all

Just wondering if there are any issues with buying silver outside of Ireland(and the EU) and bringing it into Ireland?

Also, are there any issues buying silver while in Ireland?

Any help would be appreciated

AFRAIK VAT @ 21% is chargeable on silver coins imported from outside the EU.
Recently I bought 3 Morgan silver dollars from the USA and customs charged me VAT which was collected by the postman. An Post charged 6€ on top for this this noble act :mad:

Ok, so if I were to actually bring in my own coins which I have purchased in Australia through the airport...they can't charge me on that can they?

Interesting paragraph states that

Of course if the package slips through customs inspection things are totally fine. But not declaring and not paying is viewed as evasion of taxes
