    Well that was pretty facked!

Kinda knew the Mountain wasn't finished off, was expecting that any minute. I thought that last shot of Jamie was a weird one, looked like he wasn't all that sad about what was going to happen to Tyrion....or is that just me?

Good episode after all, can see things picking up after this

FFS! Why didn't you finish him off!

At the time I was thinking of Tuco's words in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: "If you're going to shoot, shoot! Don't talk..."

    Looked in shock to me

I just wrote to my friend who works on GOT and asked her how she lives with herself working with these people, her reply has me more nervous than anything now:

"So I read the scripts, watched it being filmed, and nothing prepared me for watching last night. Episode 10 is the best this year - watch out for it!"

Did your friend earn any nicknames? I've a friend who worked on last season and everyone ended up calling her a murderous Frey, I don't think she'll ever live it down :p

Its weird the way you think "F*ck this piece of sh*t show, I'm done with it" when your favourite characters die but then once the shock wears off you cant walk away because deep down you think something good has to happen at some stage to make everything ok.

I'm pretty sure I'm being domestically abused by George RR Martin.

haha, dont think that was her! I do have to be careful about spoilers with her though, but basically in the next episode, the dragon eats daernes, ayra kill sansa, then the hound kills her, balish kills everyone in the vale, the fat guy kills jon snow for looking at his girl, the wildlings decide they prefer the north as bad guys don't always win there. jamie kills tyrian, because secretly he's always been jealous of his skill with the ladies, cerce kills herself out of bordem, and everyone else lives happly ever after, until one day the white walkers kill them all.

To me he just seemed to be enjoying the fight, probably picturing how he would've taken on the Mountain himself if it'd been him called to do so.

The narrator's attempt at the Dornish accent might take some getting used to however.

    And Tyrion's Welsh accent.

He often gets overlooked but I gotta say that Alfie Allen did some top acting when the Ironborn leader did not surrender straight away - the look of terror on his face as to what Ramsey would do to him when the plan wasn't going the right way..
I'm not a fan of his character (or that whole Bolton/Ironborn storyline really) but he does do a decent cringe in abject terror alright.

I think his death puts the Martells back in the fold as potential allies for Dany if she needs some in Westeros.

Could a book reader or someone knowledgeable tell me what relation Dany is to the Martells via the Targaryens? Every time I check something like this I end up spoilerising myself.

The "let down" is exactly what he is supposed to be. The legends speak of an invincible man who is lightning quick wielding a two-handed sword with one hand. Yet when we finally see him in single combat it becomes clear that he's just a monster of a man. Savage and fearless while battling, but relying on brute force and intimidation more than speed and accuracy.

Don't forget he was bested by the Prince of Roses too. Albeit on horseback.

Were the young king and Margery not present for the combat?
I'm praying for her conscience to get the better of her and that she helps smuggle Tyrion out of Kings Landing (maybe his wife will save him now that she's gone all badass ). It's the only thing I can see happening now. As the death sentence has been handed down there is simply no more wriggle room for him.

The only connection I know of is that Elia Martell (Oberyn's sister) was married to Rhaegar Targaryen (dany's older brother, who died during robert's rebellion).

I have no idea how Tyrion is going to get out of this, but, I am going on a limb to say that because he lost a trial by combat after winning one before. And Ned was imprisoned and his penalty was death and we all expected him to get out of it...

I'm thinking Tyrion will live because we all expect him to die. How? I have absolutely no idea. Jamie could smuggle him out? Tywin decides to have a "private" execution? There's a fire in the prison and they show the public a dwarves burnt body while Tyrion runs free?

I love this show. I have absolutely no idea if he'll live or die. But I'm leaning on the "live"....

Havent read the books but have watched the history and lore series on Youtube quite a few times. [its excellent btw]

From what I can gather their only connection is Dany's eldest brother Rhaegar was married to Oberyns sister - The one who was raped, murdered etc by the Mountain. The kids the Mountain murdered would be Dany's nieces and nephews same as Oberyn.

To me, he looked delighted when it seemed Oberyn won, distraught when the Mountain crushed the fcuk out of Oberyn's head thus condemning his beloved brother's head to be detatched from his body.

at a stretch , could The Fire in north and Mance Rayder's army be Tyrions savior for a while anyway

was thinking wall falls , Crows are sent All in the south to arms , all prisoners are on the front line first

Wishful thinking I know .... Next weeks ep will probably not even mention anything in Kings landing and we will be be left with some cliff hanger in the final ep .................BUNCH OF See you next Tuesday writers and producers

I'm hoping against hope Martin will have mercy on us and spare Tyrion. I don't think I could handle losing Oberyn and Tyrion in the space of three episodes :(

Would it be too much to hope that Stannis and Davos inadvertantly save Tyrion's life by storming King's Landing with all their new ships bought with the Iron Bank's money?

Or maybe Shae will have a crisis of conscience and save him somehow?

I'm grasping at straws here, but I can't believe they'd actually go through with executing one of the show's best characters. They can't!

Yes, but he's survived against all the odds for four whole seasons now - surely they can throw us just a little bone and save our beloved imp once more?!

I have to hold on to some hope, damn it!

Well, they killed Oberyn and he was one of the last sympathetic people in the show. I actually don't know who to root for anymore besides Arya. Oberyn was my fave. :(

I hear ya. He was my third favourite after The Hound (now wounded) and Tyrion (about to be killed).

Frankly, I cant take much more :(

The Biggest killer of all , is the fact that there are only 2 ep's left and We have to wait till April 2015 for more ...............Very tempted to just read the books

Yeah, surely this was not a wise move by Dany? I know her trust in him has been shaken, but surely it's obvious that he was an important cog in the machine. I think Dany is kind of showing some moments of bad judgement this season. She's very quick to dole out her own brand of justice, but she doesn't seem to think too much about the long run. It certainly seems as though Jorah might be right - Tywin is trying to drive a wedge between Dany and her team, causing in-fighting and distrust. It's going to work against her.
    Exactly.

Dany is showing the holes in her leadership that she said she feared. The reason she is staying in slavers bay is to learn, but she isn't learning by making rash judgements.

The executions, sending off the second sons and now Jorah.

I can understand the hurt, he betrayed her trust, but he has protected her when she was weakest. Did the punishment fit the crime? Maybe. Will she suffer for it? Yes.
Also, is Sansa looking to get a bit of an upper-hand on Littlefinger? Does she have her eye on getting back to Winterfell and maybe using Littlefinger to get there? She seems to be his only potential weakness. As she said herself, she knows exactly what he wants. Keep your friends close, and all that. Roose Bolton also seems to be quite concerned about a Stark comeback. He said himself that the rest of the north would rally around them if they got wind that they're back. Is there a possibility that Sansa could throw a spanner in Bolton's works if she reappears looking to take back what she considers hers?
Really liking how Sansa is developing. She has learned alot over the past few seasons and I believe a lot of that strength came from her marriage to Tyrion.

The likes of Cersei showed her cruelty, she knows Littlefinger is using her, but Tyrion showed her that weakness can be a strength, if you have the "name".

She mentioned in her confession that women are often married off for convenience, that love isn't a factor. This is a lesson that she has learned through experience. This is no longer the little girl dreaming of marrying a prince.

Is she developing into another Margaery? Marrying her cousin would give her the houses of the Vale. I can't see Robert Arryn giving her much trouble. The old houses of the North would/should support her too.

Could Sansa enter the "Game"? :D
I can also see the decision to name Ramsay an heir backfiring on Roose. The man's a loose cannon.
He's an effective weapon. Great during war time, but is he someone you'd like to represent you at a family gathering? :P

Oberyn was cool, thought the fight scene was well choreogrpahed. he looked great jumping around with the spear.

the ending... i was dissapointed, he was a cool character, but this is game of thrones, everyone is dying!!

Oberyn was an interesting guy, but he was only out for revenge. He wasn't a player in the "Game". He would have left KL the sooner he felt he'd made a point.

It was always known that the mountain did it, what he needed was an admission that he did it under orders, he didn't get that.

I always thought that it was generally known e.g. like most of Kings Landing knowing Sir Loras likes playing with swords as I think his grandmother put it but not confirmed.

I thought that Oberyn wanted to hear the confirmation from The Mountain.

He brought an extra bit of charisma and wit to the show. His verbal exchanges with Tywin and Tyrion were great, and he was brilliantly acted. I'm sad to see him go, but I'm hopeful that thus isn't the last we've seen of the Dornish people.

As Sophie Turner said herself about Sansa in S4 : "From Pawn to Player".

She's learned from the best how to play the game.

I think its about looking at the greater story.

Robb was a nice guy. But how long could the war go on, before it either got boring, or was over. While killing him was shocking, and horrible, it also opened up a lot of stories. And it really made you want the downfall of the Lannisters even more :D

I think GRRM is great at developing plot lines that seem important, but only serve to increase tension for the overall arc.

The question is whether Tyrion still has a story to tell that isn't stagnant. We know that he's clever, we know that he's rich, we know that he's hated by most of his family. But as long as Tywin rules, he'll never be anything other than the "God of T*ts and wine". A great character, but only as a foil to the likes of Cersei.

The unfortunate truth is that he has either run his course as a character, or his part in the story will completely change. So he might flee KL, he'll no longer be a Lannister, he'll no longer be rich, he'll have to depend on his intelligence rather than his gold. Which I think would be great. The alternative is him getting his head chopped off in episode #10, which would suck. :(

He was great, a real flash of excitement. But I never thought he'd be around for long. Although I didn't see him getting his head bashed in either...
