I wish they'd piss off. This kind of carry-on is highly offensive to those of us who actually are Jedi knights.

It might as well be a religion. It's as made up as every other religion.

I wish they just wouldn't ask, as I expect most who say they are jedis do too.

If there was another question like "whats your favourite film" that people do not see the relevance to, or view as private, they might also give bogus answer. I am guessing the "jedis" do answer honestly to the others.

I think its a reasonable way to object to such questions, and I expect some religious people might do it as an illustration of their objection

Seems its against the law to ask about religion on the US census.

Also seems the census office play along a bit with the joke

The Office for National Statistics revealed the total figure in a press release entitled "390,000 Jedis there are".

You don't think it's important to know the religious make up of an area?

Those of us who worship the Dark Lord Sauron wish to have dedicated schools. Please everyone, a bit of cop on.

In 1,500 years, when humans are back in the dark ages again, and there is no original star wars material, the legend of the Jedi origin and the future of human survival will be decided by battle between the "his right hand apostles" Versus the "left hand hardliners".

Like the PFJ in Monty Python

I heard there are increasing sectarian tensions between the Jedis and Pastafarians.

It's only a matter of time before Jedis start looking for equal treatment and then it'll all kick off.

Not particularly, in the US its illegal to ask and I could see reasons why.
    dedicated schools.
This is one reason they want to know, and certainly one reason people strongly object to, i.e. that schools teach religion at all or that it can influence entry.

I know 4 couples who have small children, none of the kids have been christened yet and would prefer not to. But all of them have told me that the only reason they would have them christened is if its needed to gain entry to their preferred school -which I think is crazy and unfair.

No more important than knowing what people's favourite pizza toppings are, surely?

I think it's very useful to have a more accurate view of how much in decline Catholicism is. It's not like the Vaticans figure is very reliable.
