I was having a laugh at the expense of people naming their kids after cars until someone reminded me that my son's name is leon.

Heard two awful names during the week- Naoise & Mirin -both used by an lady with a terrible faux posh accent. The whole queue sniggered....we were in burgerking though :-/

    Do you mean Muireann?

Nothing wrong with either of those names if said properly. I think any name said with a terrible faux posh accent will sound awful.

I hate the name Lexie! I think it was originally a nickname for Alexis but it seems to have become very popular as a name in its own right in the last few years. There's 3 or 4 of them in my daughters preschool class.

Incontinentia Buttocks. Always makes me snigger.

I blame Grey's Anatomy for that; and TV in general for a lot of the abbreviations and nickknames now considered to be naems in their own rights

My mother used to work in a creche and she minded a few kids with strange names. She always felt sorry for the little boy named Blossom

Apparently, character names from A Game of Thrones have become quite popular in the US. Among them - Arya (not that bad) and Khaleesi (Whhhhyyy? Besides, that's actually a title and not a name)

Child should be taken into protective services with parents that'd give him that name. Inconsiderate pricks.

That's a lot of people naming their kids after porn stars.

Khaleesi is ridiculous. Even Daenerys would have been ok.

I shall be calling my first born Khal Drogo

A friend of mine has two kids called Jaime Jane and Jace Kirby...I haven't been able to bring myself to let her know how awful I think those names are. One sounds like a porn star, while the other sounds like a cleaning product.

There was a girl in my school called Suprema.

Her mother was a largely lady with a tacky taste in clothes and makeup. Daughter was well on her way to being spoilt.

must be a fan of Johnny Cash.

Actually heard someone on radio recently called

    Gobnet

From Gobnait - a girls name from an Irish saint in Cork
better known from Frank Kellys "Gobnet O'Lunasa"

Unless your surname is Fenton. Then it's a bit silly, reet 'nuff. :D

Guy I know, Ciaran McKiernan and his friend Donald McDonald. Seriously, what kind of gobshíte parents gave them those first names knowing full well what their second names would be?
