Any good tall long blooming summer shrubs

Any ideas was going to get Kerrigan japonica but it blooms for one month spring. Are azaleas a good bet as I've heard that they are relegated to rhododendrons and those plants are weedy and aggressive growers? Would azaleas be a safe bet
