they did consult the residents, they don't have to ask the residents permission however, croke park are doing what the planning stipulation requires them to do

Yeah I think that is the best plan of action at this stage . That poster seems to ignore any good posts made and doesn't even quote them at this stage .

At this stage i don't think she even types the replies, i'm pretty sure she has a standard reply ready to cut/paste from a whole sheet she keeps for each thread.

    Find a thread.

    Read the thread.

see what the sensible popular choices are.

vehemently copy and paste stock replies against sensible choices to gain reaction.

    rinse and repeat.

Stop making excuses and rehashing old arguments.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

In the office I would use the word c*nt in front of certain people and vice versa mostly I would refrain from using it. Other stuff like F's, s*it etc are perfectly acceptable and often used in official working capacity. Before you say I work in a small company, I don't. I work in very international environment with the vast majority of people PhD qualified.

My previous job was in a multinational company which is a house hold name, exactly the same perfectly acceptable to use F's etc in the office.

I would be very surprised to find a work place in Ireland(not dealing directly with the public) that people care too much about a bit of bad language.

Aren't you doing a PhD? Just wait until you get into an office setting. See how long you last dropping the C bomb.Oh, and having a PhD doesn't give a person class. ;)

Unless the topic is taxi men or aer lingus workers .

Most posters in those threads were against the aer lingus strikes and taxi protests (funny how eotr doesn't mind taxi's blocking the streets:rolleyes:) so eotr did go against the majority. It seems to be a trait......i wonder if their is a name for that behaviour?

    To the internet!!!! :D

I doubt eotr is even going to one of the gigs or is even a Garth Brooks fan. I can't help but think that she's only out to wind people up in this thread.
Pics of your ticket or you're simply full of it.

what has any of that got to do with croke park? nothing, i supported the aer lingus staff and taxi drivers so what, i supported them because i agreed with their issues not because people didn't support them, i supported dublin bus and bus eireann staff when they went on strike, same with the ESB staff, and if irish rail go on strike i will support them also, get over it

Nothing to get over love, i'll support the RA if they decide to protest against these concerts. Each to their own ;)

That's it. If there is an agreement with consulations as a requirement, where does it say that consulations have to occur prior to tickets going on sale for extra events?

If they did that, it would even stupider than not consulting them at all. "Alright lads we've announced 2 more nights and sold 150'000 tickets, just making sure you don't have a problem with that."

So you have no problem supporting all of those well paid folk when they decide to strike or protest, but you refuse to have any empathy for families just trying to live their lives in peace, just because you might not be able to go and see a fat man in a sparkly shirt?

I like the way you can pick and choose your sides to champion depending on what mood you're in or whether or not it suits you. Still no sign of that ticket then?

There is no ticket, she will probably claim to have one for the Friday or Saturday but in truth this thread is just about the reaction her posts get and not the concerts.

Just to convey the scale of disruption for local residents to those who may not be aware, the works to clear away the stage and reinstate the barriers on Hill 16 and to reinstate the pitch are still ongoing; that constitutes a considerable amount of noise and traffic disruption in the immediate vicinity. Works began for the One Direction concerts at 8am on Monday, May 12th and will continue until Saturday, May 31st at 8pm. Including the shows, that's a total of 20 days of loud construction work or concerts, with works starting at 8am and, in some cases, continuing up until 1am.
Now those are the three non-sporting events that were allowed for under the original planning, but there is a desire to further impose upon the local citizens, with a probable further month of works and events in addition to the scheduled matches. Let's hope the Council, or a higher authority, sees fit to balance the profits of private companies, the entertainment of concert goers and the basic rights of Citizens.

    375 objections...
Several hundred objections against a licence for five sell-out Garth Brooks concerts at Croke Park this summer have been submitted to Dublin City Council by residents living near the stadium.
The council has received 375 submissions in relation to the granting of a licence for the country star’s consecutive concerts running from July 25th to 29th.

Read this myself today, anyone know if this is a record amount of objections? Hopefully they take note of them.

    Power to the people.........hopefully.
I'd love to see Aitken and the GAA get it put right up themselves over this. I know that things are at a fairly advanced stage already with ticket sales and what not but you never know.
Lots of mention of that splendid agreement there too wasn't there?!

to me thats rather few, i'd have thought if it was such an issue more would have objected

Yeah maybe all 6000 residents should have put in individual objections :rolleyes
Croke Park Area Residents Alliance, an umbrella which represents seven resident associations (including the Clonliffe and Croke Park Area Residents’ Association) and has more than 6000 members,

I would have thought that's exactly what should have been done, no? Otherwise it looks like only 375 out of 6000 are objecting.

    Maybe that's all that are.........

What was the turnout at the local elections,50%? Maybe we can let the government decide what way the others wanted to vote but didn't because we can't expect everyone to vote individually.

Each objection costs €20 so you think the residents association should have spent €120k ?

Given the number of residents and households in the Croke Park area, 375 is pretty low.

"hundreds complain" is a bit of a non story. The €20 submission fee is comical.

So the residents association should have put in 6000 single complaints at a cost of €120k or would it not be more prudent to put in the 375 complaints on behalf of the 6000 residents?
