If you wish to start a thread on that subject then please feel free to do so and let us all know where it is so we can join you there for that discussion and we won't have to derail this thread okthnxbai;)

    Yeah

So when can i expect your well written post explaining how O"Brien managed to fix the tender process for himself to get the water meter contract? You did after all bring him up and claim jobs for the boys.

    Imagine that.
I have an opinion. One which is formed by the logic that if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck then its a duck.
A bit like the way Judge Smithwicks concluded his Tribunal.

Why don't you explain the tendering process that over saw the idea of putting the cart before the horse?

Sometimes I don't care who gets the job as long as it is done right.

I wasn't part of this process so you would need to ask someone who was about how it is being run. I'm not saying Irish water is a great idea or anything i'm just pointing out the same people bring up O'Briens name in these threads yet never explain how he is supposed to have fixed it for himself to get the contracts.

In fairness Bumper we live in a state which has a long history of corruption. The Moriarty tribunal found that Michael Lowry received a large sum of money from Denis O Brien which helped him secure a bid for mobile phone licence. That's what the tribunal found happened. Was the tendering process different then and what has changed now because right now I don't see a reason to think anything has changed.

No you listen to conspiracies about it but never can and never will be able to explain exactly how he is supposed to have fixed the tender process to get the contracts. Always the same people adding 2+2 and getting 99

so pierce doherty is an economic illiterate, magic bean salesman?

    Your absolutely right he is.

It always stuck with me an interview Doherty gave pre-budget 11' or 12' on Matt Coopers evening radio show.

In a nutshell, SFs bright young thing promised they would deliver a return to peak or higher levels of expenditure as well as eliminating all tax increases imposed up to then since the bailout.

Add to that their current promised "jobs plan" of borrowing €13 bn to create 150k jobs.

The primary deficit was €12bn per annum in 2010, SFs plan was/is not only to maintain annual burden, but grow that debt burden.

Now 4years on, the primary deficit will be eliminated by year end, with a surplus next year.

The contents of my cat litter tray would run Doherty close on creating a sensible budget.

A 5yr SF term in office would exceed the bank bailout in terms of its impact on the governments deficit.

You have explained nothing. A tribunal found our tendering system was bypassed previously. You haven't told anyone how they're talking rubbish. If I'm making a point about science or something I'll back it up. Go on and back your knowledge up. Why can't cronyism and bribing be involved in the current process?

In any society rich people should be taxed a some more but 50% of their earnings gone on tax? How is that just? How is that fair? How dare these people work their way into such high paid positions.

it really is baffling why its acceptable that a small portion of the population, is expected to contribute the majority of the money needed to fund the country.

Poor doleys who have never worked a day in their life need to get their sky sports from somewhere you know, if the taxpayer won't pay for it then who will?

Apart from a tribunal :). The only evidence we have against it is some guy on boards who says we are wrong but cant explain why.

    Glib.

Noonan closed the deficit, facts are facts.

And I appreciate SF had no intention on doing similar, however its always a wonder why so many people buy into that being the right course for Ireland.

    FYP

    But you didnt.

Everyone knew the deficit needed to be closed.

It was just SF & the alphabet soup on the left felt it was OK to grow the burden.

Whether the troika donors wanted it or not, closing that deficit was the right thing to do..... And the government did it successfully.

By 2015 when the government have a primary surplus to play with, maybe the Shinners will get the message.

The Troika told them what action to take to do it.
FG had no clue themselves. They took the actions demanded by Europe.

If they had any clue as to the country's finances why were they not shouting when FF were in power? They only complained that FF didn't give enough away in their budgets.
