we have the most generous benifits system in the world, people can argue all they want about it, but its the reality.
relatively yes, by a long way!
and you know what, good luck to them, but at the same time tax payers dont have to be happy about it.

i was on holiday a couple of years back and met an eastern european family. she was a "single" mam but actually lived with the father of the child. in the eyes of the law, their relationship didnt exist.
yeah, you have to blame the system, if it wasnt open for abuse, it wouldnt be... Do you blame the politicians or us for standing by and allowing it?

Aengus o snotface was involved in an alleged printer toner scandal, what's your point?

That both should be punished. What's your point?

Anytime someone makes a post like this regarding the tender process always makes me smile, it just proves you don't have a single ****ing clue about how the process works and just shows your inability to process information.

    :pac:
We'll make sure we require tenders and then give it to Denis. :D

I can indeed be matey, the Govt cannot do that. That would not be above board.
Anyway I would not get it done by a friend as we could end up falling out over it.

    And they don't

It not how they tax it is how they spend the tax.

Irish Water is a good example of a government ineptitude and overspend.

It would be fairer to fix the leaks and then set up a Quango if one was required.

LPT was also badly implemented and was also able to show how there is no joined up thinking, when the LPT release a unique ID for each property and EirCode is set up to issue another unique ID for each property.

    Stop wasting time and money.

Why don't you explain the tender process to us all then and explain how it was fixed for D O'B to get the contract?

Are figures available for the amount of people earning over certain amounts? should be easy to work the figures out if it is.

Without even looking though, I doubt they will come anywhere close to the €10b hole that needs plugging.
MLMD had a number of questions in to the various ministers on the topic.
As far as I recall the gross savings weren't that big and the net savings just over half that.

If Sinn Fein get into government they will do the exact same thing they did up in the North. Increase property tax, water charges etc.. They are not the answer to our problems and I would love to see them put under pressure when they really have to make decisions.

The real issue is the lack of realistic expectations among the general populace.
There is no magic cure to getting 400K people off social welfare, reforming the civil and public service, reducing the current fiscal deficit (A few Billion), and reducing our debt of circa 180 BILLION. Particularily when a lot of the "low hanging fruit" has been plucked at this point.

Pretty much the same overall decisions need to be made no matter who is in government.

Agreed. The Social Welfare is a minefield and has many loopholes that has been exploited.

The French tried to do a quick fix by increasing income tax on the rich and it has back fired because they just leave and say "**** you I take my money elsewhere"

Of course they wouldn't do that. It's all the other politicians that lie to get votes, not them.

I know quite a bit about the tender process as i oversee them in my job. He is the one making idiotic posts about the process so let's hear his explaination as to how Dennis O'Brien managed to get the tenders for the water meters through his friends in FF/FG or whereever.

And i know of 3 who are getting all of the benefits and have their partners (working full time jobs) living with them so it does go on. Let's means test the **** out of the dole and all other welfare payments before taxing the people who keep this country alive.

And what about your beloved Elizabeth, that your so proud to serve. How much does she get every year from the British tax payer.

    Bloody hell!

    Yeah

So when can i expect your well written post explaining how O"Brien managed to fix the tender process for himself to get the water meter contract? You did after all bring him up and claim jobs for the boys.

Why don't you explain the tendering process that over saw the idea of putting the cart before the horse?

Sometimes I don't care who gets the job as long as it is done right.
