Motherboard screw install problem.

    I'm trying to install a new ATX form MB. Everything was grand, I screwing it in and then the last screw wouldn't thread in properly. So I tried to remove it and it wouldn't come out. I then removed all the other screws and tried it again and it still wouldn't come out.

    The head of the screw is fine, it's not worn or anything. It just won't go in fully or come out fully. Also when I was screwing it, there is a snapping sound. There's absolutely no way I can get this screw fully in or out.

    So will I get away with screwing it in as far as possible and just leaving it? The head of the screw is sitting about 2/3mm above where it should be and it is very tight and feels secure.

    All advice appreciated.

    If the screw that won't thread correctly is secure? Then you'll be o.k. Just make sure it isn't loose, otherwise it could fall out and short you board.

    I've had a bad motherboard standoff do that, it's in my current PC and I just wasn't bothered to wrestle with it and replace it. It's fine as long as the screw doesn't fall out.
