    Hello,

    Any Rectory Brides/Grooms out there?

Been hearing rumours of people cancelling their weddings due to local hotel closing and wondering how has it effected your wedding this year?

Have you booked accommodation? The Marine Hotel (beside Rectory) is closed due to flooding over xmas

It must have been the marine they were going to have it in. Because it was closed due to flooding but rumors are that they used that as an excuse to close up business had gone down hill.

No we haven't booked anywhere as of yet, I was thinking we would book maybe a house fingers crossed close by. I haven't been done there in a long time so im not too sure

There are a few nice places listed on Daft and the glandore village website it is hard to know where is close though. might chance taking a roadtrip down there to see if I do ill let you know

I wouldn't worry about the hotel closing down. There are loads of guest houses and rental holiday cottages in glandore as well as the Celtic Ross hotel less than 10 minutes up the road. I was there for a wedding 6 years ago and no one stayed in the hotel next door.

Am attending a wedding there in june, and our accomadation in the marine is cancelled. Wedding still going ahead though. We booked a b&b. probably won't see much of it...

I do prefer to stay in the place where the wedding is on, just for putting away a jacket or hat in my room, or changing shoes, taking a small nap (small baby, no sleep, will need a catnap if i'm to stay up late).

Handy to know I emailed them but didn't hear back.. Woud be the same as you handy to have somewhere on site to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle.. and with the baby... Sure like said it is a pretty small town so you cant go too wrong with any bnb there

Hi there just wondering if the Rectory has closed down? Their website isn't working and emails are bouncing back?

We were meant to get married there this year but cancelled our wedding middle of 2014 as had been hearing a lot of rumors etc about closing down end of year and didn't want to get stuck looking for a new venue so close to our date,

Have since heard that the owners have moved on - pity as it was such a beautiful venue!

I think when we went down last year to the wedding it was one of the last ones there..

It is a lovely spot hope you found something new..

The accommodation defiantly though was an issue

I know!! We were disappointed too :(

Thankfully, we were very lucky and booked Dromquinna Manor in Kenmare... Hotel weddings are great but not for us, wanted something a little different.

We also looked at InishBeg in Baltimore but felt it was too much work esp as we are not from the area.

We didn't go to view but we did inquire:

    Coolbawn Quay
    Jack's Coastguard Restaurant
    Ballyvolane House
    The Pink Elephant
    Ballinacurra House
    The Ballymaloe Grainstore
    Barnabrow House

    Hotel option: The Bayview Hotel

Best of luck!! We found that once we found our venue, everything else kind of fell into place so I hope it's the same for you :)

I believe It's ceased trading as one of the owners had a severe stroke and will require long term care sadly.

That's awful. Dromquinna is fab, went to a wedding there in 2012, the outdoor fires and bbq for the late night food were class!
