OP - take anywhere you can and once inside use your contact with the rent allowance people to put pressure on the landlord to fix anything wrong. Then with a roof over your head, you should proceed to network like crazy anyway you can, at sports clubs and social events etc. If you have an existing network of friends and relatives then quietly see if a friend of a friend has an apartment or rooms to rent. You and your mother need to meet or reactivate an acquaintance with someone socially who is renting or who knows someone who is renting and convince them you are nice. If you can break down a landlords' opposition to renting out somewhere nice in a nice location to a rent allowance candidate provided that rent allowance candidate is someone he knows and trusts or who is recommended to him by someone he knows and trusts- then thats half the battle. You have to be convincing, persuasive and charming etc. Anyway Good Luck OP.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I'll try not get too off topic but I did have problems with UPC, and I did ring them, and they did sort it out, they don't know how old their callers are.

Fairly certain for UPC you have to be a nominated contact at least (You might have done that)

    This
Why is 'He posted in After Hours' an excuse to take the piss out of a serious situation to try, and fail, at being funny? The lad is homeless. Let that sink in.

This is just a general forum with certain threads being moved to their appropriate forums but it doesn't mean someone can't get genuine advice.

Sometimes AH is meant for advice fair enough but the user has form for bullsh*t and though a low post count has posted in a fair few different forums so will have an idea of how the site works.

Hope it is a wind-up, but if not, glad most people gave advice. Not sure what the suspicion in the early part of the thread was about, particularly towards the mother. Some people's default is to be cynical I suppose.

Yeh, just pack your bags and head off to Castlebar with no job sorted. Brilliant idea.

You can't be a nominated contact with upc if you're a minor. My mam tried to get my 16 year old sister added as one and couldn't.

And it's not like he can pretend he's his mother on the phone.

Yeah...so that living in Dublin thing. How's that working out for them? You'd get a place you could easily afford with social welfare in Castlebar. And contrary to popular belief. There's jobs.

    Are they living in Dublin?

People can't always just move a good distance away. What about stuff like school?

    OP is lying.

How can a 15/16 year old sell a car and "meet up" with the buyer?

Was also trying to sell a BMW 318:

Hang on, you don't know for sure at all.
There is absolutely no reason for him to do that.

I imagine it's a case of an adult using the same tag. Didn't he mention that the Beemer was his uncles in a previous post?

Why the hostility? Be careful here please.

Yea because that is the important thing here????

(That poster made a horrible comment without any consideration for the potential hurt caused)

That is a moral debate in philosophy sometimes.

If I murder someone tomorrow and I was put in jail for it -

    - then it later came to light that the person I murdered (unknown to me) was that very day intending to suuicide bomb a school full of pre-teen children -

    - am I any less guilty of murder or am I now a hero or both?

To answer your question "I hope not" - as regardless of what the OP turned out to be - the behaviour displayed was dispicable and highly worthy of a troll-ban. And from what I am led to believe - only a recent example in a consistent behaviour trend.

Not if he assumed the OP to be trolling.

So if I make that assumption about anyone - I am free to act in any despicable manner that I like?

Nice. You will forgive me however if I wait for the mods to rubber stamp that before I act on it however :)

But if you troll a troll, you're still trolling.

Obviously not but if you assumed the OP was a troll why would you act any other way.

If I assumed the OP was a troll I would use the report function and leave it in the hands of the mods.

I certainly would not post horrifically offensive and hurtful comments - which do nothing but demean me really - especially in the light of the damage it might cause if my assumptions turned out to be false and the person was genuinelly innocent and vulnerable.

Remember a troll is someone who is desperate for one thing and one thing only. Attention. Giving it to them - in any form - gives them the win therefore. You might think you are witty - posting the ultimate take down - big or clever - but the simple fact remains - the moment you give a troll attention - they win not you.

And as I said - there is always that risk that the assumed troll is actually benign and your actions have hurt the innocent.

And all that aside - why let despicable people turn you into what you hate? The abhorrent actions of others does not justify engaging in abhorrent actions yourself.

    /MoralIndignantRant :)

If you had read the entire thread, you would have seen his reason for posting about the car, which actually belonged to his uncle.

This doesn't seem like trolling at all. It *is* very difficult to get a flat that accepts Rent Allowance in Dublin.

They can't just move down the country because of school, family, friends, AND he has the Junior Cert coming up very soon.

Get a grip and stop leaping to conclusions in the absence of even trying to get any evidence to support your supposition.

OP, did you/your mother get on to Focus Ireland and the other agencies?

You seem hell bent on proving how astute you are. Congrats on your exceptionable powers of deductive reasoning. Have a cigar.

If you are going to offer nothing constructive to this thread, perhaps you could pop off elsewhere. There must be many other important crimes that await your analysis
