Fitza!!! I am the same.... the 2 races this year with them, none of them recorded. I told them who I was and they fixed it but pity it does not show straight away and 'glad to know' I am not the only one. Maybe only happens to 'older ladies' ;o)))) What have we done to them ;o)))
I took a lot longer than you, but as well it said 10.1k on my Garmin, and Samsung race was 10.2k...
I wear the number correctly I think, but now I start to wonder too.

Still not rectified today:( Have heard nothing back from race organisers or timing company! This 'auld' lady still ranting:D Not really ;)

GPS isn't accurate enough to measure a race: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057195502

Thanks for the link:) To be honest most of the runs I have done vary up and down - I always go with the 'official timing'....when I get it:(

Puking one's guts up all day and generally feeling exhausted.

Following on from my raining all weekend rant, things noticeably improved when my 4 year old spent the night vomiting necessitating several sheet changes. The following night it was my wife's turn. Now it's mine. I'm currently in bed in the in-laws after stopping off in the midlands unable to hack the full drive back to Dublin.

Was like that myself, it's horrible - constantly sore stomach, arms, legs and back muscles really sore too.

Did you email them telling them.who you are, what were you wearing, estimated time etc? They record the race. They gave me a second more than what I said ;0)))) which is fine... Hopefully you get it sorted soon.

Thanks kabuxa. Yes I've emailed them, tried calling them, sent both them and the organisers facebook messages, and I can see on facebook that the organisers have read the message! No acknowledgement at all from either. As time goes on I care less and less....it has soured what was a nice event:( Ranting now over!

Are they really persisting with this Half-ultra thing? Now there's a training plan tailored specifically for the half-ultra distance (known in some circles as an 18 mile run).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,196 ✭✭✭PaulieC

It says to follow the plan you must be over 18. Sure that's impossible to police. Ridiculous altogether

Why would you need to practice drinks when you are running 30-40~ miles the first week? It would be more sense to practice the carb loading prior to a long run rather than on race day.

I wouldn't do it through town but sometimes along the coast it's nice to have the wind on your back.

Presume you got the same email as me yesterday, I had to click on it to see what exactly a half-ultra entailed :)

For the record, I plan to do a half-ultra later in the year in the BHAA 15m Cork to Cobh run, believe this is a legitimate use of the term ;)
