@the beer revolu ... Are you using the unofficial boards app to post here? If so that's the reason why all your posts are appearing 3 times. Best to use touch.boards.ie instead in that csae.

Nope, I'm using the touch site.

That's a pity. It seemed like fun.

I guess I'll keep an eye out for the equipment secondhand.

    Although, I still might.

Yes, that's right - the full recipe and instructions are here http://www.mummypages.ie/recipes/porridge-brown-bread

I have that in the oven now. Just one problem - I put in a big tablespoon of what I thought were sesame seeds - turns out it was quinoa! I'll report back and tell if it is edible!

Trying to eat a bit healthier of late and decided to switch to Spelt flour for my bread. Have been using the brown Hovis one in Tesco (2.99kg) but the other night noticed they had white spelt flour from Odlums (2.89). Mother of God it's delicious!!!! I've only made one loaf so far but my second's in the Pano as we speak and the smell wafting through the house is amazing..

    It's delicious even with quinoa!

Off to Laaandaaan this weekend which I'm looking forward to! We're going to dine in a Pan-Asian restaurant called Umami that does Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian, Singaporean and Vietnamese food. I've had Thai and Indonesian before but never Malaysian, Vietnamese or Singaporean. Does anyone have any recommendations of classic dishes from these countries that should be tried? Shellfish is out unfortunately but anything else is fair game. It looks delicious!

I can honestly say that looking at a menu before going to eat somewhere is one of life's great, great joys :D

Just walking into the office now (26C here today) & I went to the local cafe for a couple of my bacon croissants & the owner has the BBQ fired up outside cooking horse steaks for lunch. The smell was amazing.

    I love Malaysian and you can't go wrong with any of the following;

    Roti Canai
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roti_canai

Nasi Goreng (works across Malaysian & Indonesian)

Rendang (works across Malaysian & Indonesian)

Oh yum, thanks for that! I love Nasi Goreng and have had it lots, I actually thought it was just an Indonesian thing so that's interesting to know that it spans across to Malaysia too. The bread looks delish, I can't wait! :)

I love love love nasi goreng but I kind of dread making it because dry-frying shrimp paste stinks up the kitchen so badly :(

If you have time Merkin, I'd highly recommend Pitt Cue Co in Soho. It's a tiny bbq restaurant which is a great lunch/late afternoon spot.

I ate there in February and subsequently bought their cookbook which is awesome.

They rear their own pigs in Devon (I think) and do their own butchery, smoking and barbecuing.

This is the dish I had (pig head sausage, bone marrow mash and a glass of their homebrew ale)

You've really made me lol! :D A true sign of a committed foodie if ever there was one to have the picture of what you had to eat there so easily accessible on your phone! Lolers! :)

For starters, go for Roti Canai. Chicken satays are only worth trying if they're grilled in open flame.
For main I would've suggest Ikan Bakar but their choice of fish is unfortunately poor. Go for Hokkien fried noodles or Mee Goreng, omitting the prawns. Curry Laksa is yum but heavy on shellfish stock unfortunately.

Bought some ling today. Fishmonger says like cod.
Pan fry after a brief dip in egg and peppered flour? Or any other suggestions?
Hilariously my usual recipe idea spots (BBC and Good Food) both give answers for linguine as well!

Well, as you like the BBC website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/ling

I think Fiddlechic might have been pointing out that the BBC site ain't great for Ling recipes as they bring up search results where 'ling' is part of another word. Microwave spaghetti is the top search result because it has 'boiling' as part of an ingredient name
