myfitnesspal.com is brilliant, download the app.

I lost 1.5 stone using it, and learnt a lot about fitness/nutrition which has helped me to keep the weight off - really handy app to use :)

It works out how many calories you should eat per day and then breaks it down further into carbs/fat/protein to make sure you're not just eating low fat but healthily too.

Good luck, weight loss isn't easy but once you get into the swing of it, it's the best feeling in the world, sooooo worth the effort!

No mention of how the eggs and bacon are cooked. Boiled, Fried, poached? Is the Bacon grilled or does it come swimming in fat straight from the frying pan?
    Scramble with grilled bacon. Nyom

Feel like crap and be hungry vs filling, protein, fibre and good fats breakfast.

I notice calorie counters i looked at didn't have the energy from food. (aka kilojoules)

Theres pretty much 0 carbs in bacon and eggs, not 60 anyway

That is true. Count 2 cheeky slices of wholemeal toast in that calculation. :P

I don't think there's a need to specify what breakfast the OP should choose. The purpose was to suggest looking for a better alternative to Rice Krispies.

Rice Krispies won't make or break anything but from the point of view of the OP making better nutrition choices, I think it's a good starting point.
So you criticised his breakfast, but didn't explain to him what is wrong with it nor did you explain what a better alternative would be?

The point of changing your diet is to make a change that is SUSTAINABLE. Anyone can lose weight eating chicken breast and brown rice six days a week, but what's the point if it's going to ultimately result in an eating disorder, binging and feeling miserable 24/7?

Firstly, there is 1.1 g of carbs in an egg and none in a rasher.
    Secondly, 25g protein + 60g carbs + 40g fat = 700 calories
Thirdly, there is a MASSIVE difference in calories, of course you are going to feel fuller.
Fourthly, there is no fibre in neither egg nor rasher.
Finally, most people eat cereal with milk :)

Also, just for clarity, when I say all carbs are equal, I am talking in regards to body composition.

Why are you making such a big deal on this cereal lark? I think we've all agreed no one piece of someones diet will make or break weather they lose weight or change body composition but it's a good start.

I'm not making a big deal?

When did everyone agree on that? Please show me.
I thought that you said that cereals were nutrtionally crappy though?

if you think the OP should be picking cereal as a first choice for their breakfast then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

You won't let it go. That's making a big deal.

I'm not digging through this thread for a quote so call it an assumption from seeing the posters in other threads.

I do think they're nutritionally crappy. Can they fit in a well balanced healthy diet? Sure. Can they be replaced with something better in an already bad diet? Most definitely.

I'm eating more than i normally do at the moment cause i'm stressed about stuff but that stress will
be finished in like two weeks.

Focus on your exams or whatever it is for the two weeks and come back to this thread when you are in a position to commit to weight loss.
No point in trying to change major dietary habits during an exam phase.
    Best of luck.

We'll be here waiting for you arguing over the macronutrients breakdown of processed breakfast cereals :)

Google the following: Gary Taubes (why we get fat), Mark Sisson (the primal blueprint), Tim Noakes (real meal revolution-download on iPad or watch him speak on YouTube) , Vinnie Tortorich (fitness confidential) Buy their books- audiobooks are great. Follow what they do and you will succeed. Watch online documentary called Cereal Killers.
Essentially remove sugar and grains (Vinnie Tortorich #NSNG) from your diet. Eat real food.

    Grains are real food.

    Grains are real food.

Thats debatable - Is bread ok? heavily processed- wheat spikes your blood sugar pretty much more than any other food.

Brown rice is best if you must eat grains. Avoid gluten.

Bread is fine, gluten is fine, wheat is fine. Eating 12 loaves a day isn't fine. Over consumption of pretty much anything will feck you up.

Don't turn this into another boring gluten thread, thanks.

I disagree. Bread is most definitely not ok. Have you read any books listed or ever listened to Tom O'Bryan. A couple of other books I forgot to list are Grain Brain and Wheat Belly. Can you point me towards the evidence that says bread is fine?

Of course i will enjoy my next sandwich, why would i eat foods i don't enjoy :/ Since you are already spamming the crap out of another thread with your anti-wheat vigilantism i'll just stick to responding to you there.

So anyone who posts something you disagree with gets accused of spamming! You are very tolerant of opposing views! Yes I'm against wheat and so is a growing number who educate themselves on nutrition. If anyone wants to eat wheat good luck to them. Modern wheat is very different to what was around at turn of 20 century.

Ah don't go- was enjoying the debate- are you not going to respond to my post in other thread to explain why you think I was eating too much at 2500 calories and now eat less at 4000 calories?
