The fact that they have also announced Halo 5 before E3 is also interesting. I wonder what they will show at E3, but it does look likely that the earlier leak of Microsofts e3 plans was accurate, so anyone up for Halo 2 anniversary edition?

Halo 5 announced before E3. I very interested in the announcements they're getting items out of the way before E3 to have a clear talk after E3 of what IS coming rather than what is NOT coming.

Good idea ,get rid of kinect .
IT enables them to bring down the price to match the ps4.
Hopefully the next step is a redesign of the xbox 1 interface.
Make it easier to use, more logical.
A halo 2 with next gen graphics for xbox one would be a good idea.
With new maps that show the power of the console.
I think theres a market for a really good kart racer, like mario kart ,on the xbox 1.
Mario kart 8 looks great , on the wii u , a last gen console.

As long as the old maps are there too - CTF on Coagulation, Headlong and Beaver Creek were immense!

It wouldn't be Halo 2 without the old maps!

I had my first experience online playing Halo 2. First game, made a rookie mistake in a warthog, and then spent the next five minutes with a team mate calling me every name under the sun, telling me I sucked all the things, and basically trying to make me feel like excrement.

Was quite funny, and it was actually quite useful. I realised then that I should never take what happens online seriously, and that it was all just for fun. So thanks, rude american dude!

    Great game though. :)

Gears of War 4 also shown is "Only 100 days working on it, don't expect much". Another way to show what is not coming to E3 before E3, so there's less griping AT E3 ... "Wah, no Halo 5." "Wah, no Gears 4". etc.

Just out of interest, does anybody really care about Gears anymore? I was a huge fan of the series, loved it, but all interest died with the release of Judgement :(

The best thing about judgement was the bit cut from gears 3 , why aftermath wasn't released as DLC or even included in gears 3 is a puzzle to me, as I remember thinking when gears 3 ended there was a bit missing.

That's a good point alright, wonder why it wasn't released as part of DLC.

I dunno, now that Epic are not involved, I'm just not really interested in it anymore.

Anyone pick up Super Time Force??? It's a pretty fun game but it has to have the single best implementation of the game DVR i've seen so far out of the games I've played, end of the level you get a replay/mashup of your successful run with a press Y to save replay prompt. No having to shout at the xbox , or snap in the dvr etc you just get a clip recorded pop up later when it's done.

Halo: Master Chief collection being rumoured by Joystiq, Halo 1-4 (no ODST or Reach) remastered for Xbox One.

Halo: Master Chief collection being rumoured by Joystiq, Halo 1-4 (no ODST or Reach) remastered for Xbox One.

Makes sense, as the Halo 5 announcement also included a spokesperson saying:
"That journey definitely begins in 2014 with a giant leap, rather than one small step"

The fact that they talk about a journey rather than say something singular implies that there is more than one.

or it is just very long singleplayer ...

Well Halo 4 is the start of the Reclaimer trilogy so Halo 5 could be the big step on that journey after Halo 4 setting it all up.

yeah, I got it then as well. Theres a controller update available too btw.

  • Details here lads;

'Among the changes is a bug fix addressing a problem that caused Game DVR clips to record without audio. It’s joined by the long-needed ability to change the volume on snapped apps, as well as a tweak to the System Update button, which now remains greyed out when no update is available.

Additionally, the update also offers a fix for the issues that would cause Party Chat to be silent unless the Party App was snapped. Microsoft has also added an opt-in speech data collection campaign, intended to improve the voice command responsiveness of Kinect.'

After a few pints last night, I (semi) drunkenly ordered Watch Dogs last night, thinking to myself, Nice one, latest I'll have it will be Wednesday, get stuck into over the weekend.
Sure it's not out till next week. I'm some dope. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,210 ✭✭✭maximoose

Was excited for Watch Dogs but kind of losing interest a bit now, think I'll be picking up Wolfenstein instead and get WD somewhere down the line.

It'll probably be a games with gold offering before the end of the year, but Super Time Force is a cracking game and well worth the €14! Been having a great time with it

Been enjoying it too, loved the
    Mad Max references
in the 199X levels, mentioned earlier I thought the replay recording function has been the best use of the DVR in a game so far. It works out at just over €10 on a US account.

Could this mean more that instead of a single game compilation that the games will be released on Games with Gold over the months leading up to the start of the Spielberg produced TV series and the release of Halo 5?

Keep building the hype / momentum sort of thing, rather than a one-off shot in the arm for the platform.

I think it's far more simplistic, more along the lines of some sort of cross over between the tvshow storyline and the game storyline.

Not sure if this is the best place for this but I don't see a Forza 5 thread.

Anyone got any tips for knocking time off your fast laps?

For example, I'm 10 seconds off the fastest lap at Spa in an Lotus F1 car. I use Manual w/o clutch and traction control. Normal steering. Everything else off.

I don't think I can go much faster but I'd love to know what to concentrate on doing from some of the faster forza players on here.

Cloudgine. Sounds pretty cool and should make for an interesting E3 reveal. Although anything microsoft do at E3 this year can only be better than last year

E3 Last year wasn't that bad for proper game announcements and the like.

The Games listed at the Microsoft E3 briefing last year were:
    • Dead Rising 3,
    • Forza Motorsport 5,
    • Halo,
    • Kinect Sports Rivals,
    • Powerstar Golf,
    • Quantum Break,
    • Ryse: Son of Rome,
    • Sunset Overdrive,
    • Zoo Tycon
    • FIFA 14
    • UFC
    • Madden 25
    • Battlefield 4
    • Call of Duty: Ghosts
    • The Witcher 3
    • Metal Gear Solid 5

    and download games
    • Below,
    • Crimson Dragon,
    • D4,
    • Killer Instinct,
    • LocoCycle,
    • Project Spark
    • Minecraft: Xbox One Edition
    • World of Tanks (360)

OK, some of those weren't great (and seven of them are still not released a year later), but I think people's perception of Microsoft's E3 briefing last year were tainted from the Console announcement a month beforehand (TV, TV, TV, TV, Call of Duty, TV, TV) - OK, that and the dreadful mixed-messaging about Always on (#DealWithIt) that went on in the background of the show.

But for actual Game announcements and a console launch window it wasn't a bad show.
