I actually think he should have to take them now or let them go, there were other managers interested who would have moved straight away and it's only fair for all involved that it's sorted ASAP.

I hadn't applied so I'm not talking about myself. Athletic Club's manager was next in line.

Interesting opinion, do tell us more

I'd say ask the other applicants. If they agree then let him stay, if not he should have to take them now

And all 4 should have to agree. If Atheltic Club and Lazio say "I don't mind" The Governor should have the option of taking them.

I've pm'd all other managers that were intersted in the job that have not commented in this thread to see if they would have any issues with me taking over at the EOS.
I would like if i could pass on champions league football next season to the next manager coming in with one of the smallest clubs in division 1.

If any of them have any issues, ill take over straight away.

edit: I also submitted all my financial stats from last season on here. It would be cool to see the financial differances between division 1 and division 2 at the EOS.

Don't see the issue myself. Madrid have nothing to play for and Dinamo are still in with a chance of CL football. I think it's commendable he wants to stay on and finish the job.

I don't agree. If you're going, you're going. I think it would be better to get it over with and let a new manager get in and get bedded in before the season ends and have a look at their squad before the silly season starts, especially with the world cup coming up and all the distractions that's going to bring.

It's not real life...If he want's to look at his new squad all he has to do is click on the Madrid squad. Even if that wasn't possible the only person at a disadvantage is himself.

The World Cup is irrelevant, if manages wan't to do deals they will.

There is no reason to make him change clubs immediately.

It doesn't bother me but then I didn't apply for athletico, I like the idea because I mite chance my arm at Kiev and definitely knowing the hamburg dream is over would be easier to apply, then the potential that is still there.

I've always felt that if you take a team then you should fully commit. I don't think its fair on the other managers that applied since they were ready to manage straight away.

But I do think its commendable that he wants to see his old club through to the CL.

So overall I coudn't care less.. But sure we'll have a poll :pac:

He applied to take them over now, not at the end of the season.

When does "it's nearly the end of the season" become a bad excuse? 4 games left? 6 games left? 8 games left?

    I never mentioned time frames.

He did apply to take over them now and is willing to. He also asked could he wait till the seasons end, i consider that a perfectly reasonable request given the circumstances.

    In fairnes....

The lad is only asking as Atletico are safe, going nowhere between now and end of season and he wants to finish off a job (4 games....) he started, if we can't make a little room to accommodate & look after the managers WE HAVE i.e. not sour the entire SM experience for them buy not budging on a rule that will essentially have NO EFFECT on his new club, then how the hell are we going to attract new managers?

'Come over to us & be treated harshly to the letter of the law' yeah right...

I don't understand why those that have showed no interest in the gig in the first place are so upset by such a proposal... not like the man is asking for blood or money or anything...

Anyhow, hang him out to the letter of the law but don't start complaining when new managers pack up after a few games & the current ones loose interest....

As the next line Hercule Poirot released a short statement regarding the Atletico Madrid vacancy:

"I'm too busy mourning the loss of Laporte to be bothered with this - tonic won the race, a two week delay makes no odds to me"

    M. Poirot then began to recite 18th Century Mandarin poetry before collapsing in a heap on the floor.

People need to lighten up a bit... If none of the other managers who applied don't mind then there isn't a problem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,953 ✭✭✭JamboMac

So anybody whose opinion actually counts doesn't care so I think it's safe to say he can finish his time at Kiev and switch then.

The rule is that after 24 hours it's first come fist served, that implies that after 24 hours nobody should be allowed to "reserve" a club. Why should we "hold" a club for someone just so they can have their cake and eat it. Sure I could have stayed at Sporting for an extra week when we'd have won the league outright and I'd have "division 4 champion" officially on my account, but I left because I appled for benfica and I knew it was only fair to get it over with and let someone else come in and take sporting.

If you apply and are successful you should be willing to take it or leave it, none of this messing about for 10 days while your current club has a chance to win something/qualify for something. If you're going, you're going.

If he doesn't want it straight away, and none of the other 3 want it then anyone who applies now should be handed the job.

There has never been a rule on how quick a team must be taken only applied for and Mac has never been that quick at switching people, what difference does it make really?

Sure then I apply for the sao paulo job, but I want to wait a week to see if I win the league with benfica first, because why not, everyone else is doing it.

If after 24 hours a manager hasn't taken the job it's first come first served, that's the rule, if he's not willing to take it ASAP and the other 3 aren't either then whoever comes along now, after the 24 hours, applies, they should get it.

Coming across as sour grapes on your part, I'm sure there wouldn't of been a problem if you wanted to stay on that extra week and win the title.

I do think that we should stipulate now that all positions have to be taken within 24/48 hours of being accepted/winning the race.

Let tonic wait the two weeks - the situation hasn't arisen before so it's not fair to say "These are the rules...." - at the moment it's all down to personal opinion. But we should knock this on the head now that the situation has arisen.
