For me I love being out on the practice ground for a few hours in the sun with the shorts and t-shirt on. I actually prefer it sometimes to playing as the headphones are and everything seems so far away..

Anyone else prefer a nice slow day on the practice ground in the sun than playing?

Tomorrow will be a said day as I have 3.5 hours free and I don't fancy rushing a round in when I could get some good work done on the practice ground.

No comparison to be made between the two, when you get more enjoyment from the practice than actually playing then there is something seriously wrong imo.

I like a mix of both. Use the academy in Fota for practice and the time seems to fly there!

Playing, every time. If its just a practice round, you can play a couple of balls and that's more enjoyable than just banging them down a field. I seem to get more frustrated on the range than the course. It probably shouldn't be that way though...

Same here, heading up there this evening and i can't wait.

But if its a nice day and you're out with a few friends, you can't beat playing.

Got frazzled at Lisheen Springs on Good Friday, forgot the sucnscreen and it was the first real belter of a day this year. Lesson learnt the hard way - always pack some spare screen in the bag!

You said you have 3.5 hours free tomorrow. If I was you I would practice for about 1 to 1.5 hours and then play 9 holes. You need to mix it up a bit I feel. 70% of your practice should be allocated to your chipping and putting. I'm saying this but I actually don't do it myself.:o:o

It will be about 50/50 as I am working on something with my swing and that same thing is affecting the pitching.. Putting is feeling solid at the moment but I always keep on it as it had been a weaklink in the past

The issue with 9 holes on a Sat is the course will be busy so jumping in means 18 as there is a competition on.

3.5 hours to hit wedges and short irons up and down the practice ground ? Just lovely!

I love practice as it's great to just work on something and get it right.. Always have loved spending hours hitting balls

I love the driving range... Well for the first 10 minutes or so then I start dreaming of fairways and greens and the challenge that comes with it!
