Time for a new batch of gloves

Hey,

time to purchase a new batch of golf gloves, wearing through them quickly with practice sessions, any recommendations?

I usually try to buy 5 or so online but finding it hard to get a good deal on a named Cabretta leather brand.

Anyone see any bricks and mortar special offers around the Dublin area?

Sports Direct have gloves for dirt cheap, a lot of them are not great quality but some decent enough ones, normally only £3 or £4

A lot of the gloves I see on special in shops are very plasticky, I find them a waste of money tbh, they fall apart and are you are screwed if they get wet at all.

Check out Sports Direct.

I recently purchased 10 left hand gloves for €2.40 each. Delivery charge is €6. So it worked out around €3 per glove. There is a good selection of gloves to choose from there as well.

Did anyone ever use a big bertha warbird glove? had a couple about 4/5 years, absolutely bullet proof, if anyone finds them around, let me know!

I never used them but I know the ones your on about. I will check for you over the weekend if our Pro Shop still has them!!!

Not an answer to your question directly greebo. But I recently bought a Callaway glove set. Winter both right and left hands in the pack.
So it's not cabretta leather like you mentioned but they are totally fantastic.
It was mental wet over the w/l and I thought I'd need a right glove gave €40 ish for the set but they are unbelieveable. They seem not to be wearing like other gloves have even with plenty of practice.
What I like is the feel, unreal and grip ain't bad either.

Don't know about bricks 'n' mortar deals, but on occasion I've bought gloves from thegolfshoponline.co.uk
They sometimes have good deals or clearance offers on the likes of Footjoy Sciflex or Titleist Players, both of which I've bought from them. You need to be lucky with the timing of their offers though.

Don't bother. I gave up using a glove years ago, got tired of them getting wet, dirty, hardened, lost etc. Never missed it - made no difference to my game.

+1 on sciflex although obviously it's down to individual preference. Just the right combo of stretchiness and thin soft leatheriness for me. My normal method for getting a "deal" on them is to use gloves to top up another order over the minimum required to get the free shipping :-)

In the rain gloveless is the way to go imo.

I played without a glove when I first started Golf for a few years. But now I would find it impossible to play without a glove. I played a few holes without a glove and it was a complete disaster.

I'm not too fussy, as long as its real leather.
The manmade fabrics dont work for me at all, while they last a bit longer Im a sweaty bastard (especially when practicing) so they end up like washing up gloves....

I need to use a glove due to the amount of practice, hands would be two lumps of callous otherwise (I've tried it!)

I usually use cheapo /old gloves for practice but even those have holes now

I only wear a glove it its pishing down, then I use one of those all-weather ones. When I wear a glove I quite like it, but when I dont I dont miss it. Generally speaking, why do people wear them? Do they feel the club slips when not wearing one?

If your hand slips in the dry then you need new grips (or to clean them!)
A glove helps keep your oily hands off the grip (the important part of the grip) and, for me anyway, stops my hands getting torn up.

I have two suede gloves for the rain that are excellent, though Im terrible for not putting them on in time (usually right after I let the club slip!)

American Golf stock them or at least used to - I wear one currently but it needs replacing soon.

Leather gloves are good for sweaty hands for the first few rounds but they get hard then and lose their grip.
Hirzl kangaroo leather gloves are supposed to be the best but they are very expensive .

Avoid the cheap man made gloves ,they are rubbish if you have sweaty hands,I'd barely get a hole out of them .
I cant play golf without a glove ,my hands sweat profusely,I cycle through 6 gloves a round.
I gave up playing golf in the summer afternoon sun ,it was futile ,couldnt grip the club properly,I either play early or late.

I've tried most gloves but found Footjoy Raingloves and Mizuno Rainfit the best ,they are like suede ,very good for sweaty hands ,they soak up alot of moisture.

I still have a few ,very hard wearing glove but not suitable for sweaty hands as the palm has a plasticky surface .

Yeah I looked at them, postage is a bit steep though, over €10 for the first three and over €4 for each subsequent set of 3...

I'm using Footjoy sciflex exclusively for years now, and I mean years.

I get them in batches of three on ebay, works out about €8 a glove. Be careful in that some being sold are copies, but easy enough to spot the real deal.

They can be rare as horse rocking **** here, but they are one of the more popular glove stateside so you can get them easily, and with the nice exchange rate at the moment works out cheap.

Don't know why, have tried some other gloves when I was buying local, but they feel weird. Too used to the way Footjoy feels, so I buy exclusively from ebay.

How quick you churning through them?

The Thursday offers in Aldi today have those cabretta leather gloves for 8-9€ afaik.
She sent me the link and I remembered this thread.
