Is a pass in irish required to pass the leaving cert as a whole?

    If I didn't pass Irish or didn't even go to the exam but got enough points in the other 6 subjects to get in to Trinity (or somewhere else irish is not required) would that be ok? Also does anyone have a list of colleges that do not require a pass in irish?

    I understand your concern about potentially failing the exam but why wouldn't you turn up? That's not a good attitude to have. You need to check individual college websites to see entry requirements. I'm not sure if Trinity require it.

    In theory, if Irish isn't an entry requirement and you failed it but got the points anyway, then yes you would be ok.

    Nearly all IT's don't require irish (Most will say you need a pass in English OR Irish)
