Now I'm not too sure if this is irresponsible reporting from the Indo or not but supposedly this bomb was meant to have been targeted at the crowd in Dublin yesterday for the Giro by some delightful dissident republicans.

Now quite why dissident republicans would want to bomb Dublin is beyond me but it does strike me that the Gardaí helped prevent a dark day yesterday.

Yeah this is mad. Can't really think of a target that makes any sense- I mean they are complete scumbags but I still can't imagine them bombing a big crowd in Dublin of all places....

It will be interesting to hear the response from SF on this !

    Evil, shameful behaviour !

The Giro travelling from Belfast to Dublin was seen as a wonderful sporting event with cooperation from people and sporting bodies from North and South.

The sporting eyes of the world was on Ireland yesterday. It was also a wonderful opportunity to promote Ireland as a holiday destination which could generate tourist revenue for the island.

Well done to the Gardaí and Security forces who prevented potential carnage on the streets of Dublin yesterday.

Well SF claim not to represent the dissidents nor have any influence over them so I'd presume they'll be condemning it. Also interesting that the Indo seems to be the only source for this.

They're only reporting that the bomb was found though, not speculating on it's intended use.

What is the difference between IRA and Real IRA?

Quite a lot too be honest. Different leadership and political wings for one. Perhaps the most significant is that the IRA signed up to the Good Friday terms and have supposedly decomissioned their weapons whereas the real IRA haven't. Also their methods of deploying bombs are also quite different.

Who was set up, and by whom?

    This should be interesting...

Ok. To an an outsider looking in sadly there appears little difference, thank you for clarifying.

What is the difference between IRA and Real IRA?

Well apart from the fact that one is an organisation that signed up to the peace process, fully and independently confirmed they disarmed and put all weapons beyond use, and then disbanded, IE - no longer exist.

I await Labour's response to the recent bomb in Nigerias capital Abuja.

I'm no fan of SF, but they have nothing to do with the dissidents. Indeed, if anything, the dissidents hate the likes of Adams and McGuinness more than they ever hated the Brits and the Unionists. And vice versa I'd imagine.

    By whom?

Think about all the bombs that were "found" over the past few years. If they wanted one to go off it would. Bad press, election coming up ect. Before you say I'm SF, I don't vote for any of the scum they are all the same.

    You're not an outsider though.

You were deliberately trying to muddy the waters.

    Bad del, Bad!

Eh but since SF have nothing to do with the Real IRA, how on earth would blaming a bomb on the Real IRA have an impact on SF's electoral chances?

It worries me sometimes how spectacularly uninformed some of the commentary on important issues is...

Thank you, P-1 has explained it very well, not everyone reading the thread would understand the intricacies nor difference, many readers are outsiders.

So thank you again, I hope you get Labour's response on the Nigerian situation which you seem anxious about.

The Giro was being watched by a TV audience of 125million viewers. If the unimaginable happened IRA, Real IRA mean the same thing to outsiders, particularly to UK TV audience.

I am not muddying any waters but telling you a few home truths which you obviously cannot handle ie . Truth

The giro seems to be a major speculation in that story.... Also who is to say that the bomb was going to be used yesterday? From what I read it had a timer fitted to it and was not set to go off , but by having the timer fitted was 'primed' to go off

%100 correct. You see it dosnt matter to joe soap whitch part or the Ira they blame. Put sum fear into the public. You have your opinion and I have mine. Do a google and see how many bombs we're "found" the last few years.

    Ok I get it now.

You were asking the difference in the IRA and the RIRA for other posters/outsiders and foreigners foreigners and not for yourself?

That would clear up why, your very first thought sas that you were eagerly "awaiting a response from SF" on it?

    When in a hole......

Ah, good point. That explains why SF's support has plummeted so drastically in the last few years. Oh, no, wait...

Maybe, just maybe, the reason we've found such bombs is because we have several terror organisations on this island who are dedicating themselves to derailing the peace process through all means, including bombing and murder. And bombing things usually means that one needs bombs...

I wonder...who do you think was behind the killings of the soldiers at Massarene Barracks in the North a few years back? Or the murder of Constable Stephen Carroll in 2009? Most attributed the blame to the dissidents, but now you mention it, maybe it was Fine Gael or the SDLP or the UUP up North trying to discredit SF?

Some people are truly intent on maliciously damaging SF's chances in this election. Will they stop at nothing? Shower of ********. Peace isn't good for their hopeless self esteem. Ignorant thugs. Muppets.

The giro actually had TV audience of 700 million and not 1 ad for Ireland during the whole thing,Turkey Scotland Morocco all had ads. Where were our tourist board?

As for bomb it was found at Wedding in Lucan which could not be further from the Giro route, maybe it was criminal and not IRA ?

Surely with giro going through South Armagh,Dundalk The IRA would have picked a better spot!!

Martin McGuinness was on tv a few days ago, celebrating the advancement in NI, which meant that NI was now included on the Giro d'Italia. Some people don't want to hear such positivity.
