That 10l engine must be a killer on juice though! :pac:

    You'd buy a 1275 replacement handy enough!

Would make a good base car if there's no tinworm

    Quite the presumption there chap.

I take you've never seen the car?

I know the test is short but worth the money IMO and a brilliant colour on a good looking, well proportioned car.

    I've seen plenty of them.
When I need your permission to have an opinion, as opposed to other posters, I'll let you know.
You go and have a look at it for us, and then report back.
I'll not be wasting my time old chap.

It actually looks like a good example in the photos.
A quick search of that poster's history says all that's needed so I shall say no more.

If your going to talk about my posting history, you're going to square up and say what the problem is here.

It looks good to me in all the usual spots too :) It would be a good one for your collection. You could park it in the truck :P

    And agreed.

Same applies to you, what is agreed exactly about my posting history ?
If you're going to start making personal allegations, you're going to be standing over them.

Yeah, I'd look to get a mini or a beetle into the collection alright. Preferably a pre 1980 one, ripe for a GM diesel engine conversion!

It looks far from the cleanest example to me tbh, but I wouldn't go by what it looks like in the pics.

I've gone to view a few cars that didn't look great in the pics only to be pleasantly surprised upon viewing them, I've also gone to see cars that looked great in the pics only to be dissapointed.

The only way to really tell the condition of that car is to go and view it, no point making presumptions based on the photos.

Agreed. But I was moreso making the point that it was ludicrous to assume that it was a rotbox based on a couple of pics with no evidence of any rust

Very very true. I will say though that the bottom of the doors, what can be seen of the sills and that little panel in front of the door (it has a name that I don't remember) all look good so I would be optimistic :)

It's not ludicrous at all to assume a 1978 mini is full of rust until its inspected. I seen enough sprayed over mini's to know that very well.

Now. You've made allegations about my posting history, are you going to be man enough to stand over what they are ?

If you look at the drivers wing, it appears that there is some bubbling where the a pillar seem meets the plastic arch molding.

The back passenger side wheel arch molding also seems to have some paint on it, like it was masked badly during some paint work.

Again this might be just the photos and the car could be fine when viewed in the flesh.

I wouldn't. And I have done some pretty weird cars.

    Not in a million years.

Not a huge fan of some of the mods on that MK2, but its nothing that can't be changed and jaysus its cheap with all that test.

Those are the best of the unburstable Corolla's not sure if that has the 12v engine, it says 1.5 which would be the 5A but the 2E 1.3's were fantastic.

pretty cool. japanese import too with the corner markers on the front wings and the reflector in the boot! snazzy car!

That Corolla must be JDM? Back lights look so.

Tis JDM so has a few nice extras too, leccy windows etc :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,327 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

That'd be a jap import. I don't think its one of the more desirable jdm specs but it'd be a palace compared to XL trim.

16 valve decals on the rear doors :P i'd say your right with a 5a-f engine.

The 1.5 was a 16 valve and was a similar engine to the superbly reliable 1.6 in the 1988-1992 Carina II. It was a better engine to the 12valve 1.3 imo, as was the 4e fe in the newer corolla
