Omg you're one of them...........remind me to punch you next time we meet:pac:

Lean maintenance engineers make my life a misery!

Lean drone: "we need to take out this step to save 10 mins, multiplied by all the times it does it we will save blah blah blah"

    Me: "it's not possible"

Lean drone: "you're always negative, why isn't it possible? Sure it's only a blah blah blah, I've spoken to 'insert person of semi importance' and they said it was ok"

Me 1 "because that will wreck this other part which costs eleventy squillion quid"
2 "because it won't work without that step"
And memorably one time "because the next time somebody goes near this thing they may die!" :D

    Congrats man!
Where are you going to be working if that's not nosey?

We've them in Intel too. Someone hid the kettle in the press and printed out a notice that it had been removed due to 'energy saving'. Got plenty of chuckles out of that one today

Kinda annoyed that my wrap didn't come today, have to wait Monday at least before it arrives. I ordered it last Monday night, it was dispatched Tuesday morning form the UK, and it's just standard post. I thought it would have been here by now :(

It's the UK that is holding it up. In Ireland you post something on a Monday it arrives on a Tuesday. One day turn around. They still have first class post in England. You would think they would get rid of that bull**** if they can post something out quickly they should do it with all mail.

Slightly off topic but they live in the past there with their royals and class system. I'm from upper class bull****.

Make sure you get a year's supply of Castrol Edge 0w-30 :pac: I've to top up a litre every 800 miles. (Same M54B22 engine)

That's hardly normal oil consumption  isn't there high mileage on your one though.

I'm convinced, the BMW unrepresentativemodelnumber SE is for me.

Anyone know a good mechanic around Waterford city?

depending on what you want done, i've got a good bit of work done with fast fit on the inner ring road.

they don't mind doing semi obscure work that other mechanics would pull a funny face over, the likes of coolant changes etc. the price is always the price, no messing etc. the guys in there always have plenty of time to hear you out and explain the job at hand.

176k now + the manual says 1L every 1000 niles is normal, so I'm not too concerned

    What?...

I knew there was somewhere I was thinking of going tonight. It's as well I didn't - I probably would've dozed off or embarrassed myself.

Sure if anything is going to be causing your high oil usage it's going to be the CCV, and that is a complete pain in the hole of a job. You're better off leaving it until it gets bad!

Mines been supping oil since I got it, but I've no problem with it, just check the levels every week and it's grand.

Thanks for all the comments lads, always appreciated. As said, it looks like it'll be a year before I'm back on the road, but the good news is, I've made plans for the GTI to sill be part of my life, and the nearly-missus is delighted with it :pac:

For those of you intrigued, yes it is epilepsy. Here's an interesting image that'll get your mind in a twist :D

When I rang aviva a couple of months ago the woman on the phone took my 3 years NCB and the 2 years named driving I have and told me with Aviva this qualifies for 5years NCB on your own and to put that in on the online system, she also said because I had my license 4years and 7months to put in 5years on the online thing too.
I thought they were open on a Saturday to call but theyre not so does anyone know if this is still the case?
I asked her several times to ensure this was correct, and rang a different girl an hour later and both said it.

Looks clean at last :D Although it sounds worse than the previous aftermarket JVC unit. It's the Alpine model without MP3.

Don't worry about the trim, wasn't fitted properly when I took the pic.

I know of two people who now have it under control and are back on the road. It's tough but doable. One went back to college for the year in the time off work, perhaps something to look at. Or a new hobby. :)
