how close to reality is it though? are abortions full of 'special moments' and 'good feelings'?

    Ask the dead foetus.

Calling an unborn child a parasite is akin to calling babies and toddlers vermin.

They crawl around your nice clean house, **** and vomit everywhere, eat your food, keep you awake with their screeching and generally make life a misery.

Perhaps I should lay down a few traps. Baited with Peppa Pig dolls.

they do all of the above and can drive you mad even when you wanted and planned them, imagine what they do to the mental state of a woman who didn't want to have that child in the first place?

I'm pro-choice but the fact she is so flippant about having an abortion doesn't sit right with me. It's still a big deal and not a decision to be taken lightly I think. Pro-life people are going to watch this and use it to prove that we think its all a bit of craic basically. Which is not the case for any pro-choice person I know.

Glad you find it all so amusing.

Facetiousness aside, do you honestly feel that because a mother supplies oxygen and nutrition to a fetus, that this means the baby is somehow not a separate entity?

Have you noticed the way women have bumps before they have babies? Good. Inside this bump is the foetus. You can't see it without technological imaging processes because you see, it is under her skin and flesh, in her womb, not yet a separate entity.

It's this I won't bother using contraceptions because abortion is a solution brigade that bothers me. then shriek about my body my rights..

In that article she says she was using what the catholic church would call "natural family planning"
I found out I was pregnant in November. I had been working at the clinic for about a year. It was my first pregnancy, and, full disclosure, I hadn't been using any kind of birth control, which is crazy, I know. I’m a sex educator, and I love talking about birth control. Before this experience, hormonal birth control scared me because of complications I’d heard about from friends — gaining weight, depression, etc. So I tracked my ovulation cycle, and I didn’t have any long-term partners. I thought I was OK. But, you know, things happen. I wound up pregnant.

See, the procedure is simple. there are no major negative health issues in having an abortion.

What's nasty is that women are judged for not feeling guilty for having an abortion. people seem to think that it's ok to have an abortion as long as the woman feels ashamed that they needed it. If they can hum their way through it and go out and have an active day afterwards, then there's something wrong with them.

Guys I'm pro-life but I'm ashamed at some of the vile comments people throw around about unborn foetuses. They are not parasites and to call them such gives credence to the idea that pro-lifers are heartless b#stards who take the decision to abort easy.

So your answer is to kill them in the womb?

You never saw my niece when she was having a tantrum. Vermin is nice. SPAWN OF SATAN would be a better description. ;)

If that is what the woman decides I have no issue with that. What would you suggest?

I think some of the pro-life persuasion here would be shocked if they knew how many women they know, or have met, have met have had abortions. Not that these women would ever tell someone who is going to judge or pity them.

I really don't think you'd find a competent doctor who would assert that a mother and feotus were the same entity. They simply aren't.

I don't think the Catholic church advocate multiple partners with this method. And she doesn't have too much respect for her body if she's willing to risk std's.

isn't it a psychopath that detaches emotion?

    Not killing them.

This is where pro-life and pro-choice disagree.

Pro-choice believe a woman should have full bodily integrity, and the choice to not be forced to carry a foetus against her will.

Pro-life believe the foetus is a baby, and has the right to live, regardless of what the woman carrying it believes.

Ultimately, we will not agree. Seems a bit pointless that it's the same handful of posters (myself included) arguing it in two different threads.

Easy to say when its not you who has to take on the responsibility of taking care of them for the next 18+ years.

Are you saying that a woman who has an abortion but doesn't feel shame or some other emotion besides relief is a psychopath?

One being inside the other does not mean they are the same entity. Seriously, no doctor or person familiar with rudimentary biology will tell you that.

Do you understand what a parasite is?

    Yes, but you clearly don't:
Parasitism is a non-mutual symbiotic relationship between species, where one species, the parasite, benefits at the expense of the other, the host.

Unless you are suggesting the woman in question here was impregnated by another species.

Someone get Sigourney Weaver on the phone.

    Fair play green_screen. You're right.

We're only banging our mutual heads against walls here.

But, heh, it's an important issue.....

    Have a nice weekend.

They are not separate until birth. I wasn't arguing entities.

Wait...so she's a sex educator and loves talking about contraception, but yet deems it fine and dandy to sleep with multiple partners without using protection?

She most certainly should not be educating anyone with that attitude.
