Woman uploads abortion video - goes viral

A 25 year old woman from the US has uploaded a video of herself announcing she is pregnant, then discussing the fact that she is going to have an abortion.

The three minute clip then includes the actual procedure, caught on camera, as well Letts' feelings post-abortion.

She says the following:

“I don’t feel like a bad person. I don’t feel sad. I feel in awe of the fact that I can make a baby. I can make a life. I knew that what I was going to do was right ‘cause it was right for me and no one else.”

Now, as someone who is very pro-choice, I am ambivalent about this video. On the one hand, I feel people should have the right to upload pretty much whatever they want to YouTube, as long as whatever's happening in the video is legal (which this was). And I don't at all think Letts was wrong to have an abortion.

However, statements like "I feel in awe of the fact that I can make a baby" hardly help the pro-choice movement. Referring to a foetus as a 'baby' is exactly what rabid pro-lifers do, and announcing that you are in 'awe' of the fact that what you were carrying was a 'baby', which you then chose to abort, again, doesn't help the pro-choice argument.

they do all of the above and can drive you mad even when you wanted and planned them, imagine what they do to the mental state of a woman who didn't want to have that child in the first place?

I'm pro-choice but the fact she is so flippant about having an abortion doesn't sit right with me. It's still a big deal and not a decision to be taken lightly I think. Pro-life people are going to watch this and use it to prove that we think its all a bit of craic basically. Which is not the case for any pro-choice person I know.

Have you noticed the way women have bumps before they have babies? Good. Inside this bump is the foetus. You can't see it without technological imaging processes because you see, it is under her skin and flesh, in her womb, not yet a separate entity.

I found out I was pregnant in November. I had been working at the clinic for about a year. It was my first pregnancy, and, full disclosure, I hadn't been using any kind of birth control, which is crazy, I know. I’m a sex educator, and I love talking about birth control. See, the procedure is simple. there are no major negative health issues in having an abortion.

If they can hum their way through it and go out and have an active day afterwards, then there's something wrong with them.

Guys I'm pro-life but I'm ashamed at some of the vile comments people throw around about unborn foetuses. They are not parasites and to call them such gives credence to the idea that pro-lifers are heartless b#stards who take the decision to abort easy.

You never saw my niece when she was having a tantrum. Vermin is nice. SPAWN OF SATAN would be a better description.

I think some of the pro-life persuasion here would be shocked if they knew how many women they know, or have met, have met have had abortions. Not that these women would ever tell someone who is going to judge or pity them.

I really don't think you'd find a competent doctor who would assert that a mother and feotus were the same entity. They simply aren't.

I don't think the Catholic church advocate multiple partners with this method. And she doesn't have too much respect for her body if she's willing to risk std's.
