Heya mods... if this is out of place please move/delete it but I couldn't find anything in the stickies about clan recruitment...

The Art of Warfare (TAW) is my clan for most games but particularly NS2. Its a highly organised clan but the focus is on having a bit of fun and playing games together.

We have two organised game nights (Wed/Sun) and internal leagues, training, competitive teams if you like that kind of thing. The whole clan is HUUUUGE (like 1,700 people huge) but the NS2 bit is a more manageable (still large!) 60+

Its a "grown ups" clan without the usual squabbles, racism, sexism, messing that goes on.... and is organised like a relaxed military unit which works really well (no faffing about waiting for everyone to get their sh*t together).

Anyway, if you are looking for a good NS2 clan, give me a shout on Steam (I'm Devoreie there).

Any questions ask, and thanks for reading...

Moved to PC Gaming forum, seems more appropriate here.

I used to play some gathers a year ago or so when the game was officially released. They were a lot of fun so I'll definitely be in touch. This game lends itself very well to teamwork and constant communication far more than any other game I have ever played. Public games can be infuriating, especially when one team has clearly lost the game but are persisting.

Yeah, its absolutely one of those "must be in a good team" sort of games. That's why I got involved with TAW.... they have the team work nailed and its a lot more fun to play with competent commanders and team members who communicate and react!

They have two teams in the NSL too, for people who like to be competitive.

Holy crap that some amount of rules in the code of ethics, are they followed loosely or rigid ?

Kinda both.... They're pretty serious about the sexism\racism stuff but its not like if you make one off-the-cuff remark they boot you out. Its pretty relaxed atmosphere in general. What kinds of things caught your eye?

BTW the website might have been a good thing to post in the OP eh? :) its www.taw.net

I agree with the sexism and racism stuff but the whole chain of command , religious views ect seem a bit ott. Then again with such a large community maybe it's needed so people don't get offended.

I was a bit put off by the "chain of command" thing at first but now I actually love it. It means that when its time to play a clan game (we meet up twice a week)... one person runs the show and gets things sorted out. Additionally there are people assigned to tasks like training (I'm the training officer... I organise lifeform/commander training for members), or server management, or league running etc etc...
It just runs really efficiently because with about 40 people wanting to play it gets messy otherwise. I thought it might turn into a mad power trip but actually it works really well and everyone is very cool.

The religion/politics thing is really just don't bring it into the clan meetings. There are members from Ireland to Russia, as well as the US so no one wants a row about current affairs.

The initial "bootcamp" is a bit OTT but it takes like 20 mins tops and makes sure people have things like TeamSpeak installed and configured for the clan server etc etc.

Excellent that's cool, i might give it a look in i have been looking to play other things outside of my usual MMO stuff as there is no point me spending the money i have and not playing them. I have two hours total on on natural selection which is a shame as its a good game.

I think I've about 600 hours at this point hahah... but the clan takes everyone, no problem with that. If you want you can be a guest of mine and play in our "mandatory" (Wed/Sun) and see if you like the crew.

That offer applies to anyone else who wants to have a look! :)

I'll try and join on sunday. I've already signed up on the site but not sure what to do next. I jumped into a game last night for the first time in god knows how long. I went straight into the marine command and somehow won!

Thanks for the offer give me a day or two to get it installed and have a few games, I wouldn't want to jump in right away as I'm a total noob at this stage.

    Thanks

Just had my first game there. Still not quite sure what was going on!

Shout if you want a walk through... its one of those games with a steep, but short, learning curve. You will get the hang of it inside 20 mins with someone showing you whats what

I did alright in the game itself. In fact our team won both rounds and I managed to keep up with my team. Just the set up in teamspeak was bit overwhelming. Lots of people talking at once. I was moved onto a team eventually though.

Ah, sorry I didn't see you ... I was late and jumped into a team. Fun crew aren't they!

I'm registered under my steam name "neeel" so you wouldn't have recognized me. I didn't say a word in the lobby because there was so many people talking at once. They seem very friendly
