I want more induction noise...but don't want to lose power in the process, is it possible?

K&N cold air intakes is what comes up online, but i reckon that would give me the noise, and lose power, which is not something my car needs!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,302 ✭✭✭Supergurrier

You won't lose power once the car is moving

Lean maintenance engineers make my life a misery!

Lean drone: "we need to take out this step to save 10 mins, multiplied by all the times it does it we will save blah blah blah"

    Me: "it's not possible"

Lean drone: "you're always negative, why isn't it possible? Sure it's only a blah blah blah, I've spoken to 'insert person of semi importance' and they said it was ok"

Me 1 "because that will wreck this other part which costs eleventy squillion quid"
2 "because it won't work without that step"
And memorably one time "because the next time somebody goes near this thing they may die!" :D

    Congrats man!
Where are you going to be working if that's not nosey?

I'm also going to be heavily part of a new TPM mindset in the company so anyone from that angle is going to hate me :)
I'm not sure I should just mention it yet pred :)
    I'll be in Roscrea though..

All the forth years in my course already have jobs got and there only sitting exams now  I mean every single person once they pass their exams have a job. Although I suppose the pharmaceutical industry is still booming in Ireland. The real money is in oil and gas though once you have a few years experience under your belt it's the area to get into. Best of look with the new job anyway it will be interesting to here how you get on. I'm doing exams at the moment don't even have time to clean the car just all study. Had my thermo exam yesterday so none of the rest can really be any more difficult than that :)

Well back from the NCT centre in Castlerea and I failed on emissions and not having the rear middle seat belt not visible. You would think he would put his hand down and pull it out. Anyway thats minor back to emissions.
    It faile on high idle.

Lambda: 1.14 not between 0.97 and 1.03 fail
    CO 0.32 vol% above 0.30% fail

    I cannot believe I failed by 0.02%
Anybody know how I will pass with out getting new cat?

Take it to a mechanic and request an Italian Tune Up be performed. Should sort it out.

I will look into it. Some people say put a bottle of some stuff into fuel tank(I don't know the name of it) does that stuff work. I remmember reading it on here a few times.

Put a bottle through, give it a few hard drives to clear out the exhaust system (doesn't mean fast just select a low gear and keep the revs high) and drop it off for the retest nice and hot. I'd give that a try before putting more money in.
