Replacing radio in 02 Micra

Hi
I have a 02 Nissan Micra with a VDO radio.
It is starting to give trouble, so was hoping to replace it with something cheap and cheerful and the radio coming into Aldi caught my eye.
Does anyone know if it is a straight swap, or will I have to cut wires or anything like that to get the new radio installed.

Shouldn't be any need to be cutting wires these days as you can pick up almost any connector block required from the like of Halfords. You'll know best when you go to swap them out, then if needs be, take a spin to Halfords and they will provide you with the relevant looms you need and possible antenna conector.

There will be no need to change or cut wires as most have the iso sockets. If you do purchase one of those cheap radios be sure to hold onto receipt as they don't last and you will have to return it.

those lidl/aldi head units are garbage. Granted in days gone by they were cheap to buy compared to a known brand but that's not really the case anymore.

You can get the much,much superior Sony equivalent in halfords for a shade under €60

€25 extra gets you this nice pioneer cd head unit

both the Sony and the pioneer are well worth the little extra money Imo as they are massively better quality products compared to those aldi units.

Based on that post, I think I may pick up the Sony.

I was same as OP, cd player in my Astra is gone, so may buy a new radio. I assume the Sony would fit, and I'd probably just have to buy a loom? Sorry for "borrowing" topic OP. Didn't want to start a new thread with a very similar question.
