Just back from Croker. Good game but unlucky to lose in the end. It was a good idea to play these games in Croke Park to give players from the weaker counties an opportunity to play there. As for the crowd, it was surreal having so few there but the Hogan stand did fill up some bit before the Cavan-Roscommon game. As mentioned previously, it might be a good idea to have the division 4 final as part of a double header with either the division 1 or 2 finals

Some lovely scores taken by Clare, especially Tubridy and McGrath. Was great to see these teams on national TV.

Great effort from the footballers yesterday. Really nice to see these players playing in croke park and playing some nice football. Some lovely scores from Tubridy, McGrath hand Russell and a smashing goal from o Leary.

Hopefully they can keep this momentum and be competitive in munster and then the playoffs

i think the attendance probably looked worse then what it was, i would say there was 4000 there for the first game with that building up for the second, there was still a large crowed coming down the street against me for the 2nd game as i left.

the important stuff was done a few weeks earlier when we gained promotion ,i was happy enough with the way we performed although if there were one or two things that exposed us yesterday i think we need to brush up on the fitness side of things we looked tired early in the second half we could also brush up on the defensive side of things if we are to meet a top side like kerry later on in the year, other then kevin hartnet at full back everyone else in the full back line looked exposed

they trained back there a few times last year , but i think the game is part of the kilmurry ibrickane centenary celebrations

    clare 1-23 tipperary 0-12

was'nt at thegame in cusack park it would be interesting to hear from someone that was , it was a close game up to half time with tipp leading by a point, they got a man sent off just on the half time mark which really must have changed things because tipp only managed one point in the second half, they picked up 2 more red cards in the process

rare to see a tipperary side to combust like that , i can only put it down to frustration , maybe all was not well in the tipp camp in the lead up? either way its a rematch against the all ireland champions in there back yard at walsh park in late june

Clare still have their best player to come back into the team.
i would give us a serious chance of making the final

Better team won and I think Clare would have won even if it had remained 15v15, this was widely accepted iin Tipp as a weak enough minor team and a large number of them are underage next year. Very impressed with the Clare full forward, looks a real star in the making.

All that said the referee was a joke and the first red which turned the game is a mystery and no one, not even the ref I dare say, knows what it was for, and he was handing out yellows, to both sides in fairness, like confetti. The second red was borne out of pure frustration and the game was well up at that stage, and the third one was as a result of an incredibly soft yellow initally but being on a yello teh Tipp man should have known better.

there is no mystery at all about the first red among clare supporters regarding that the tipp player struck the keeper across the neck with the butt of his hurley. it was deemed serious foul play and was penalised accordingly.
the other two reds were both straight sendings off not a second yellow as you seem to be suggesting

First red was a joke alright, and who knows how the game would have gone without it?

Anyway, looks like Limerick and Dublin overwhelming favourites to win the whole thing outright.

its minor, no one is an overwhelming favourite

Nah, Limerick are overwhelming favourites. You'd have to have Clare after Limerick, Waterford and Dublin.

i am offering you the view that at minor level form changes so quickly that no one can pick a winner of the competetion with any degree of credibility at this stage.

kilkenny made a few mistakes and conceeded goals against dublin and ended up getting a hiding
clare were strong favourites to win the minor in 2011 and didn`t get past the semi final

    anything can happen

If you actually think the first one merited a red card then I can only assume the tinted glasses are very strong, it wasn't even a free ffs and the ref played on at the time, Tipp actually got a point from the ensuing play.

Second one was a straight red but the third one was two yellows, with the second one for catching the player on the hlemet going for an aerial ball, can't argue with it as that is the rule.

What did you think of the two yellow cards haded out to Clare in the first 10 minutes?

The first one was a foul , ref played advantage but yes it was very harsh.
The 3rd one was a straight red although the same player had just been booked the previous minute.

i heard the reff was a bit harsh with his calls it will be intresting to see the highlights back on tg4 next monday night , strange times in the tipperary underage scene , it would seem ye are far stronger at football then hurling at the moment, and the last good minor team ye had that won the munster hurling championship there two best players that day against us ( john mcgrath and steven o brien) are now playing intercounty football

i would half agree with you, yes dublin look very strong any team that can keep killkenny down to just 3 points in 60 mins is some achievement , limerick on the other hand have a long road to travel just to get out of munster

waterford still have alot from last year on the panel clare have a deasent side , cork can never be written off , and if they do find themselves in an all ireland 1/4 or semi final stage they wont want to meet galway again , hawkeye or no hawkeye they found them tough going last year

the final score in the challenge game in quilty this evening was clare 1-28 galway 1-17

clare used 2 sets of 15 in each half and a few interchange subs through out the game , not a whole lot to read into this challenge match john conlon with the clare goal, far closer first half with the score of 0-12 to 1-07 in clare's favor

a training session in truth but a novel way to help mark the centenary for the kilmurry ibricane club

It's the centenary of ye're first All-Ireland too isn't it... and judging by the league final today I don't think either KK or Tipp can match ye.

it is actually and in fairness there has been very little said about it here diffrent game back n them days i think they beat laois by 5-01 to 1-1 or something

but just because kilkenny dont look as sharp as they did a few years ago they are still very much a danger , this time last year i taught they were a shoe in for the all ireland after the way they won the league,

i would mark dublin as a big danger too they were unlucky not to make the final last year, but the only way i could see us challenging for the all ireland is by going the direct route via munster

some of the players are tied up with under age , some also play dual sports with there clubs and the collins's are still involved with the inter county footballers so even though they are young they have a lot of miles up on the clock already i dont think its as clear cut as you say

clare beat offaly by 3-23 to 0-12 points in a challenge match in killaloe for the opening of a new stand at the smith o briens grounds tonight

much the same as last week in quilty whole sale changes at half time and all through the 2nd half

the main talking points tonight were colin ryan went off injured at half time with a wrist injury , tony kelly took over the frees for the second half and by all accounts he has been practicing the "nash" 21 meter free as he landed one for himself in the second half

can I ask what was the Offaly team?
