Has anyone ever travelled from Birmingham to Holyhead here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

    Always

How do you come to that conclusion?
It is if the car is lowered too much, but just the right amount and it is perfect. You just have to look at expensive sports cars they never have a gap between the tyre and wing. I still don't know why standard cars have such a huge gap between tyre and wing. Looks cat imo.

I'll admit, I had dirty thoughts of lowering the legend and putting on some nice wheels....

So did I, but was told that it was not.

    I'm still an enthusiast...

I just spent a lot of money on a car that I barely fit in, and could just about afford - just to own a 'sports' car right when I'm moving to using the train to commute. Totally worth it.

You can't just brand lowering as stupid,it's not a one for all approach, there is different types/methods of doing it some are great and some are bad.

    ^^^
There's slamming on chopped springs like a dope and there's setting up suspension geometry using quality parts.

Exactly a car lowered for show purposes can look daft and be undriveable, a car lowered for improved handling and driveability can be a different class,,my Bora was lowered on quality coilovers and i would do it again in the morning.

It wasn't there on Monday evening. They keep breaking the water main. I've been caught twice at it in the past 8 days.

Can't really say to be honest as we stopped off for the night half way. But from Birmingham to Holyhead, probably about 4-4.5 hours. To be fair I was driving a Land Rover Defender 110 that didn't belong to me so was taking it handy. Not a walk in the park of journey mind.

Really?! Google says 3 hours, its 270kms. Im trying to set up ferry times etc!

I've drove holyhead to Birmingham and Leicester a few times, 3 hours taking it legal, 2 and a half with an Irish reg :)

On the return leg makes sure you stick to the A55 along the coast it's easy to get pulled onto the A5 between sat nav and unfamiliarity with the route.

Sound. Ill be in an english reg, flight gets into Brum airport at half 4, ferry is half 8, car will be inspected and the hpi check is all clear so it should be just a case of gettin in the car, sign forms and head straight to holyhead. the ferry is 50e cheaper than the Friday. Am i stupid?

I don't know i think you are pushing it, you are realistically not going to get out of the Airport much before 5? is the seller meeting you at the Airport? you will be cutting it fine and delays and you might be testing the car out for over night comfort in the dullest town in wales lol - best of luck though.

If you are pushing it on coming back take it easy as you approach holyhead, they love catching lads late for the boat.

Guess Ill have to make the call, guess its not the best time for traffic either, is that route prone to traffic do you know tossy?
Theres a ferry at 2am that I could get worst case scenario, into dublin at half 5 and home to cork for 8am :pac:

The M6 is the busiest road in England i think, traffic around the city will be heavy and getting off it may be heavy, it's a chance you've got to take though, once you get past chester and onto the coast road you should be good for no more traffic. Plus you haven't really driven till you've had one of those dash across England for the ferry drives.
