More people live within 60km of Drogheda than live within 60km of Dublin.

Ireland is formed from 2 land masses, one from south of the equator and one from north, which smashed together a long long time ago. the point of impact is between clogherhead and annagassin and runs south to limerick. the impact created mountains in clogherhead which at the time were taller than the alps are today

Drogheda is the largest town in Ireland and the 2nd largest town in Louth.

The only man to win 2 all ireland titles in one day was from louth,
football in 1957, followed by all ireland accordian player that evening!

They love their borders up that way. Is there much intra Louth-meath smuggling?

Louth has some of the best placenames in the country.

    Termonfeckin.

    Faughart.

    Hackballscross.

It is also the heart of Ireland's (heavy) fuel oil refining industry.

That they have THE worst accent in Ireland. A horrible inbred mix of Dublin, Derry, Wicklow and Donegal.

There isn't one Louth accent. For example, there's a more standard Dundalk accent and then other people in Dundalk who have a slight or strong northern influence in their accent.

About as out-bred as possible on this island. Well done though.

    It's true.

A 60km catchment of Drogheda is greater than Dublin's as it includes Dublin itself and large towns further north like Dundalk and Newry.

Naas has the largest catchment area in the country as it includes Dublin, all of Kildare, the heavily populated parts of counties Meath and Wicklow as well as larger towns like Portlaoise, Tullamore, Carlow, Mullingar and even Drogheda within a 60km of the town.

The presence of the Irish Sea to the east, and Wicklow mountains to the south of Dublin create large population voids within a 60km radius of the capital.

Louth people are the most backward people I have ever met. My brother is married to a Louth woman and her whole family are the biggest bunch of inbred hicks you could ever meet. Fuckin hate any occasion where her family are there.

Yeah who give a sh!t... I bet she's fcukin GORGEOUS like all the Louth ladies.. ok ok I'm biassed, but being from Dundalk and visiting a few Countries here and there and living in London for a few years, I have to say 'Dundalk' women are tops, when it comes to good looks and down-right GORGEOUS-NESS

Only in the Meath to Louth direction with smuggling of women. This is due to Louth mens love of anal sex which as everyone knows Meath women have brought to a perfection in application with little or no Government financial support. This of course explains Meath womens accents especially those in the Meath Louth border regions
