The sanctimonious left label Jeremy Clarkson a racist.. again

Seems a day can't go by without hearing someone complaining about how the Daily Mail or Fox News have exaggerated some news story and / or even accusations that they have made the whole thing up (despite the fact the same stories will tend to have been covered by many other media outlets that same day, in much the same way).

To me though however, it's the God forsaken sanctimonious left wing media (and their disciples) who are far more vomit inducing than their right leaning counterparts could ever be. With their constant pretense at being morally superior and forever taking offense on other's behalf, where offense is rarely warranted, let alone ever intended.

A perfect example of this, is today's cries by the Daily Mirror (can't post a link) that Jeremy Clarkson is a racist. They even have a poll on their website asking people if they think he should now be sacked for using the Eeny, meeny, miny, moe... rhyme off-camera on a Top Gear shoot. I mean ffs.

I genuinely believe that 99% of the cries of racisim and sneering that goes on today, by those that like to see themselves as liberal and having evolved thinking, is nothing more than self serving, calculated bile. I honestly don't think they give a rat's ass about genuine racism. I think they just harp on about these things, scream racism at any given opportunity, in a quite obvious attempts to bolster themselves in other people's eyes.

    tl;dr

I really wish Guardian reading Michael Moore types would give it a rest and perhaps focus on real cases of racism (if they can find them) rather than attempting to magic them up from nothing, in what are usually quite obvious attempts to gain popularity within what is (hopefully) fast becoming one big ever decreasing societal circle jerk.

EDIT (He has just posted this video apology from his Twitter account):

The Daily Mirror is left wing?

In so far as it supports the Labour Party, I guess.

    Eh. What?

Of course the Mirror is a left-wing paper, assumed most would be aware of that, but.. (from BristishNewspapers.com):
It was a right-wing, middle-market newspaper under Northcliffe and its subsequent owner, Northcliffe’s younger brother Lord Rothermere (who also owned the Daily Mail); in the early 1930s it briefly flirted with Oswald Mosley and his British Union of Fascists. However, a change of ownership led to a complete revamp of the paper as a sensationalist, left-wing, down-market paper, and a transformation of its fortunes – by 1939 it was selling 1.4 million copies a day, and towards the end of the 1940s it was approaching the 5 million mark. It remains the only national newspaper to support Labour consistently since 1945.

Interesting. Never knew it was. I don't think I've ever read it.

You seem a little angry, I don't think Clarkson is what brought you here.

In fairness you could probably have a poll saying "Jeremy Clarkson ate breakfast, should he be fired" and most people would say yes.

I'm a sanctimonious lefty but even I can't stand most of the commentary in The Guardian anymore and it seems to be getting worse by the day.

I find that reading right wing garbage on AH balances it out

The Mirror is left in the same way that the Labour party itself is left. So it's not left at ALL!

If it was one word used once then maybe he gets the benefit of the doubt but the man is barely capable of opening his mouth without some racial slur oozing out under the pretence of "just a bit of banter." Has he ever made a 'joke' that wasn't related in some way to race or nationality?

Clarkson is on record as being against marriage equality, so bigotry is already in his psyche. I don't know if he's racist, but if he is he shouldn't have a show on the National Broadcaster paid for by the British public, both black and white and every shade in between.

Nice that the OP can mind read the intentions of everyone who speaks out against racism though, I'm always impressed by psychics.

A lad at work leaves a copy of The Mirror lying around after he has finished it. It really isn't too bad. It's a tabloid, but it's a far better paper than The Sun or The Star. Still wouldn't suit the high-brows of AH who take their Irish Times of a morning with a cup of freshly brewed coffee, before perusing the pages of the New Spectator and The Guardian throughout the day.

You think reading broadsheets and drinking coffee is high brow? God love you.

No. And I'm rather perplexed that you somehow managed to take that from my post.

I watched Top Gear a few times and can't see how they have such a following.

    Complete tossers.

Reading it after somebody else doesn't make you any better than them you know! :P

I was (and am) complaining about the sanctimonious cries of it, not the genuine ones.

So, no extra sensory perception needed.

I just view Jeremy Clarkson as insufferable dick who is pretty much on the air to piss somebody or another off. I couldn't care less if he remains on the air or not but have no intention of watching him. So yeah, enjoy your rant against the 'sanctimonious left' while being sanctimonious at the very same time. :D

I said the highbrows of AH take their Times with a cup of coffee. That doesn't mean all highbrows take their Times with a cup of coffee, or that taking your Times with a cup of coffee makes you highbrow. I know of an unabashed middlebrow who reads the Sindo whilst listening to Wagner for example.
