    Hi Guys,

I have a Sony Vaio laptop which is serving me very well.

I use it at home only and keep it plugged it the majority of the time.

As of late the fan has started to sound like a jet engine and the blows out very hot air. I downloaded a temperature app (core temp?) and it runs around 68' when plugged in.

However, if I plug it out and run just on battery power, the temp drops to about 48' and the fan is whisper quiet!

I understand that charging the battery probably generates more heat but this only started happening as of late.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks

Worth doing a de-fluff, might need a bit of work to dismantle, don't think VAIOs are very maintenance-friendly like that

Forgot to mention, I actually did that last week :) Was surprised how clean it was considering it is nearly 3 yrs old at this stage.

    (came apart easy enough too)

Have you tried messing around with power management settings. Vaio's have their own version . Somtimes a bios upgrade/downgrade helps.
