Interested to find out recently that John Denver used a pocketful of coins as percussion on the recording of Country Roads.

And another where XTC hunted around the studio to find a sound to replicate the sound of beating metal hammers on stone in Towers of London, eventually using a fire extinguisher.

    Worked a treat....

    any others?

not a weird instrument but an odd way of playing it - the low percussion is a large kick drum, covered in cloth and played with sticks.

@DamagedTrax..Great sound too...gelling with bass, sounds almost like a heavy electro-synth bass line...tight, punchy. Creativity like that can make all the difference.

Mike Oldfield recording/sampling sounds (smashing TV's etc) and processing them through Fairlight computer. Used on Games Without Frontiers etc...haven't watched all vid. Interesting watch.

I know Deadmau5 and Chris Lake used to slap their asses to make clap samples for their songs. Don't have an example to hand :D

    Edit: Proof

Quality of EDM tracks can't be judged based on record sales...
