    Paddy (Pigeon number NPS.43.9451) was a irish hero of WWII, who flew across the English channel ,in record time, to deliver the news that the d day landings were a success. In doing so he became the only Irish recipient of the Dickin medal.

    A lot of WWII history isn't common knowledge. There is no way it could be with everything that went on during that time.

    I heard he went to seed after his epic-flight and retired to Finglas. He felt too cooped up there so moved west for more room. Leixlip I believe - Under the eaves of Arthurs Bar.
