26 pence for a stamp in 1985? Nothing backwards about that.

What do you find do embarrassing about it?

That a reporter who clearly leans towards believing this stuff is allowed airtime on the news to propagate it?

BTW what is that part at the start about the undisturbed body of Mary Collins about?

In fairness though to this day people believe in all sorts of nonsense. I die a little inside any time someone mentions good and bad karma, for example.

Lol you think it's just this country?

Millions travel to Lourdes every year since 1858 in the belief that the virgin mother of a carpenter from 2000 years ago will appear there.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lourdes

    Medjugorje

Millions visit this place under the same delusion as above since 1981

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medjugorje

Nothing wrong with the people of Ballinspittle wanting some of those catholic tourist dollars imo. People were/are stupid enough to believe in this ****e then fleece em i say.

It's their belief. I hardly think it's something for anyone to get embarrassed about.
And as The Backwards Man suggested, it is not just 'people in this country', people all over the world have beliefs, there's no need to sneer at them.

Probably! People still visit those places.

People from all around the world believe in all kinds of madness, so I wouldn't put it past them; Ireland is not the only country at it. I would bet my liver that you'd find people from every single country in the world who believe in something off the wall.

The moving statues thing is particularly gas though, I'll give you that!

Ya it is embarrassing for you alright, it must be tough being you and bearing the weight of the national conscience,

It would probably make the news even today, big deal
as threads go you are scraping the bottom of the barrell, what next ? A thread about bailing out the banks or paedophile priests ?

I'm more amazed by the price of oil going down.

That a reporter who clearly leans towards believing this stuff is allowed airtime on the news to propagate it?

So you'd prefer today's stifled bull**** approach where you can say absolutely nothing for fear of offending some arsehole extremist who then takes an action against the TV station or newspaper because of the distress and hurt someone having a view different to theirs has caused them. I'd take the attitudes of 20-30 years ago over the namby pamby PC horse**** that we're inundated with nowadays.

    Repressive? Speak for yourself.

I'll never forget Sr. Catriona in that blouse. Happy times.

I'm hanging here for a good fry with proper rashers and sausages and toast, mmm and pudding (think homer Simpson when he wanted the Venus jelly)

in reality I have cheese and salami with bread :(

why did you mention fry ups?

So would I. The PC mob are semi retarded vermin. It's just that I don't think allowing a mouthpiece to a journalist who believes in floating statues says a lot for the credibility of our national broadcaster.

I love this one. You shouldn't sneer at people's beliefs. Unless of course they're not supported by large international belief groups.
    • Scientology
    • UFOs
    • Ghosts
    • Illuminati
    • Witchcraft
    • Ouji Boards
    • Homeopathy

The list goes on. If it's a well-known religion we shouldn't judge. But if it's some equally ludicrous suggestion that no one has heard of then the believer is deluded.
