    It's usually part of a regime of sleep deprivation. Randomly varying bright/dim lights, loud music, white noise etc. Sleep deprivation has very specific physiological effects.

    Sorry but I disagree that enhanced interrogation is the same as torture and I feel the same about water boarding. It screws with your mind but doesn't kill you. I think its perfectly acceptable to use these techniques in the shadowy world of counter-terrorism.

    You are right, I would hate to go through these things and I have no doubt that I would break in a very short time. Then again I am not trying to destroy an entire society and way of life because the people there don't follow the same imaginary friend as me so therefore I doubt I will ever experience them first hand.
