    Slightly of topic.

    IPL(Norn Ireland leauge) news.
Cliftonville Football Club have acceded to a request by Crusaders Football Club to host their final Danske Bank
Premiership game of the season at Solitude this Saturday at 3pm.
    http://www.cliftonvillefc.net/news_statement_230414.html

Crusaders final IPL match moved from their home ground at Seaview to Cliftonvilles home ground at Solitude by request from CrusadersFC.
No other details available at the moment.

Question? Has a LOI match ever been moved by request or other from a home ground to an away ground ?

Shamrock Rovers played a home game in Cork once because they had no ground available in Dublin

    Security reasons i presume ?

Yeh last season this happened http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-21487405 and Cliftonville were unsure after this if they would ever get to play in Crusaders ground again..

Obvs Crusaders didnt want hundreds Cliftonville fans buy tickets in the home end (last game between them in Crusaders this season only had 300 away tickets for security reasons) and Id say were more than happy to move it

Thats not Dundalks fault is it? Plus since Kenny took over we have a far better record away from home than at home so any "advantage" we get is bull

Id put money on, that many of the teams train on Astro Regularly, I know Drogheda and Athlone do a good bit

In fairness, not having a good home advantage on a surface noone else plays matches on is only yer own fault. Surely you can understand the criticism though, that's all I was saying.

Wexford Youths last season, a home league cup game against Cork was moved to Turner's X. Financial reasons

I think it actually happened 2 seasons running Darkglasses. I'm told cup gate receipts are split 40/40 with 20% going to the FAI. It made sense to move games to Turners Cross rather than play at Ferrycarrig

Where they cup games or League games lads ? Cup games can be switched with realy no problem.League matches on the other hand... ?

The fact the FAI regularly use it for underage teams training and it hosts the North East regional Development squads games and training should show that it aint half as bad as its made out
Oh I’m sure it’s not as bad as it’s being made out to be and I’d take anything Cawley says with a hefty dose of salt. But, I’d share the opinion that all pitches in the league should be grass. I mean, it’s Ireland for jaysus sake – it’s probably the most ideal climate in the world for grass growing!

Never mind the clubs its the fans that its affecting, not many can afford to go to so many games...
But it’s the same number of games over the course of a season?

The stupidest thing about these Monday games is the fact that there is a May Bank Holiday and June Bank Holiday coming up and they decided to not use either of those for games.

Shamrock moved a league game v Shels from Santry to Tolka around Chrimbo/New Year 1999 or 2000.

Game was due to be played midweek and lights in Santry (if there were any) weren't up to LoI standard.

What's the story with Rory Patterson and Roddy. He was an unused sub against us in Oriel Park (which was bizarre given Derry needed goals and eventually lost 3-0) and I see he wasn't even in the squad for the last game against Limerick. Has he had a fallen out with Mr Collins?

aparantly so, having a great laugh on our forum today, apparently roddy was on the radio and he basically said the team couldn't play Patterson because he creates nothing and can only score :pac:. Said they can't afford to carry Patrick McEleney as well....
he was meant to have had a falling out a few days ago with them.

long may his reign continue :)

We are playing Bray in the League Cup on May Bank Holiday and I know Drogheda are playing Rovers too

You been to Derry, Athlone or Tallaght lateley and see the state of the grass pitches they have? Or lack of grass on them!

I was in Tallaght on Monday and thought the Pitch looked great, but I'll admit that at the start of the season/pre-season it looked a bit worse for wear.

There's actually a report just gone up on RTE website with his comments.

Collins said: “The problem is, we're not creating enough chances and that's what his job is. He is a finisher.
“He doesn't give much other contribution to the team. He doesn't work hard. He doesn't chase the ball down, get it back for you or hold it up particularly well. But he is an exceptional finisher.

“I don't see the reason to have a finisher in the team until we start creating some chances so that is the thinking behind that one. Until we get it down and start creating chances for someone to put away, there is no point wasting a player in the team.”

"That's what makes you a great team. We've got one part 100 per cent correct. We've conceded one goal from open play in the whole season."

Ouch! Wouldn't imagine Patterson is too impressed with the comments in bold! Also, Collins speaking through his hoop again re goals conceded. Says they only conceded one goal from open play all season yet Dundalk scored two from open play against them in their 3-0 win. Surely they weren't the only two goals scored in open play against them all season?

No one goes to League Cup games regardless though.

I understand that (although we have 1 bus full for that Monday already and other one is filling up) as Bray is largely recognised as Dunadlk fans favorite away trip after Tolka Park, We will take a decent crowd

Their poster for next week's game is quality too.

City's Good Friday poster got a mention on TV3's Ireland AM last week. This is the kind of publicity that really helps us. The likes of MNS/Soccer Republic are great, but they're generally preaching to the converted. These kind of things portray the clubs to a new audience. A few seasons ago, there was a feature about City on Nationwide on RTÉ and it got a lot of the city talking about us.

Another couple of good posters done for Bohs tomorrow night. Including a version as Gaeilge, which has been well received by the Gaelic community in Cork.

They weren't, of course in Roddys head they were. Man is clean mental. Ruining us. Some of his comments defy all logic.

Love having Roddy in the league but would hate to have him anywhere near Dundalk. Great entertainment value when looking at him from afar. There were actually calls from a few of our supporters to get Roddy in to sort things out after Darius Kierans was giving the boot.

Roddy and his mate that owned Carlisle? tried to buy Pats a few years ago.

Doubt we would exist if it had of happened.

Would have thought John was more likely to be willing to invest/buy Rovers

Because the Kelleher/Shelbourne Developments is a much better idea...
