I'm not a fan of this "rough"

It's pot luck when you go into this stuff. You can have a perfect lie or can be in a random tuft of gorse like grass.

IMO if you go off the fairway in the us open you should just be in the heavy rough, end of. Penalised for a wayward shot but instead people are going to have slices of luck by not being punished for wildness.

I like it for a change. It'll be interesting to see how it goes, but I think luck is an essential part of the game and it doesn't necessarily have to be sterilised to the point of almost being a science IMO.

But, yeah, there will be excessive moaning, then again, there almost always is with top players. Imagine the mood of the guy who's getting all the bad breaks and he's stuck behind Kevin Na or Charlie Wi.........:)

That looks absolutley stunning, whatever about the element of inconsistency.

    Looking forward to it now.

I think I like it. Yes, there will be an element of luck whether you get a clean bare lie or up against a tuft of grass but you can avoid that luck of the draw by hitting fairways with a shorter club.
