Spilt a small bit of water on apple external CD drive

I spilt a little bit of water on my apple external CD drive (it wasn't plugged in at the time). I just want to know if I test it with my laptop, is there any way it could damage my laptop?

That depends on where you spilled it of course. I could run my laptop under the sink as long as I don't get any inside the machine. SuperDrives have what three whole openings?
