How often do you go home?

If you are like me you have a wonderful mam, so obviously you pay a visit home after a few weeks. The past year I lost a parent so have been going home every 2 weeks, whereas before it would have been once every month or so.

Now I am looking for a readjustment back to how it was, but am getting the patented Irish Mammy guilt trip (trademark pending)...so fellow boardsies please make me feel like a normal person for not spending every second weekend at my childhood home!

Every second day. I'm lucky enough to live 5 mins drive from my parents.

I go home every 4-6 weeks.
Don't like going home for various reasons but has to be done.

    Now you're just making excuses.

I'm not spending my holidays going home. I'd rather travel to different countries.

I spoon with the family dog on a regular basis.

    It keeps me coming back

Live about 15 minutes drive away so call over once or twice a week. Also take my mother shopping every weekend as she doesn't drive.

Give the poor lady a grandchild and then she'll be happy

I installed the Mammy in the gate lodge so going "home" involves a stroll down the driveway. Can't beat yer Mammies fries. The nagging, criticism and slight hint of negativity, not so much.

Last time I visited my mam was about 2 months ago, she's about an hour away on the bus. I feel bad for not going more often, but fcuk it, she has a car and has only visited me once in the last 14 months.

If I was driving I'd probably visit every couple of weeks, but I can't tolerate public transportation.

She has 6 of those that live in her county so that isn't an issue, also leave my lady bits out of this!

As most of my mates have left it's not as much criac when I go back, but I'm trying to go home more for my parents sake. Once every 8 weeks or so. Get called a fat D4 prick but it's worth it.

Not as often as I should or can.

They'll be gone one of the days and that will be that.

I never understand grown adults with their own house, partner & children saying they are going home for the weekend etc.

It's lovely to visit your parents, but once you move out, that house reverts back to being their home

Why is it that even when they are close to you and maybe have free travel it is your responsibility to visit them.... regardless of your life in your new home county or having to leave your partner of 4 plus years.

    Never,

They've sold up and left the country, so I visit them once every couple of years, but I can never go home.
My wife goes home most days, but here sister lives there now and their parents are both at the cemetery.

We are the only species that allows our young back into the abode after raising them and them flying the coop.

I'll tell you, you wouldn't get away with this out on the Serengeti.

They're making sure that it's still theirs in the will when it does once again, become "their" home

We moved too often for any one place to be 'the' home. My parents both work abroad and travel a lot, and I'm lucky to see them for maybe a day each time, twice a year.

I am close to extended family and my siblings, but I'm very close with my Gran, and she's coming tomorrow to boss me around and fuss over me for a week, because I need a proper mind for a while. :o
