More calf problems lads! I have a suckler with a big limo bull , hard pull good while calving can't get him to drink born 48hrs stomach tubed him after few hours he's standing and bowels moved but god not man can't get him to drink! Any ideas?

The vet can give him an injection to stimulate the sucking reflex. Selenium paste under the tongue won't do any harm, lots of patience, keep him just hungry enough to want milk but not hungry enough to be weak, and keep offering him to the cow a few times a day and hopefully the penny will drop. It might take a week or more so persevere.
    Best of luck with him!

Did ye hear on the news about Setanta insurance? Gone bust, won't cover drivers if you have an accident, policy holders have to buy new insurance today with another provider.

Talk about dodging a bullet, I was with them but changed to Axa this year.

    The same as that lad

Am no expert on that. The advice seems to be get new cover ASAP, there was serious doubt cast over whether they'd pay out in the event of a claim, so what use are they to you if they won't pay?

From what i can gather the policys are valid for two months from this date but after that their void.

My van policy is with them as well and its up in may so must ring the broker tomorrow to see what the story is

    From their FAQ page:
    http://www.setantainsurance.com/frequently-asked-questions
    4. If I cancel my policy, will I have a right to a refund of premium?
Irrespective of whether the cancellation is made by the Company or the policyholder, the Company is not in a position to guarantee pro rata return of premiums.
The parent company is based in Malta, so who knows what the story might be with their dealings with Irish law and regulations.

Certainly, everyone with a policy from them is being told that they should act as if they no longer have cover and should make alternative arrangements immediately

Yer probably right con, it mightn't be worth the paper its written on now.

Ya would be fairly sick if ya just took out a policy with them.

Too right I would. I hate paying for it in the first place, never mind being put in the position of paying twice.

Lovely scenery over there, especially on a good day. Tough land to make a living off, some of it.

Bought a cheviot Ram off a man in Toorboy, Dromore west, and before I got away,he almost sold me a pony as well!

Was on the point of it.
Threw a rock under back wheels and she walked out. 360 was in field next door and the driver was watching and waiting for my call😄😄

Always a small fry fellow to get the chop. If Seanie had been found guilty, Quinn would have been partially vindicated, and could probably have taken a claim for damages, and the return of Quinn Insurance. No way that would be allowed happen.

Tbh I know it was his own fault for getting talked to borrowing for shares but I have great admiration for the man.
Started of with very little only a JCB and a truck and look at the business he built and the amount of people he employed and the community he kept in a rural area of Ireland.
I'm happy he didn't get jail tbh because he was always a hard working man that got dupped like we all will some stage in our lives

I think your mixing him up with Sean Quinn unless Sean Fitzpatrick also did something similar.
Sean Fitzpatrick was the guy that ran Anglo Irish. I think he's facing other charges too so he may see jail yet.

Seanie was never in any danger. If they put him away there'd be a bit of a queue in the reception area of that country house hotel they call a jail shortly afterwards. And that would be before he got into the really good stuff. TBH with the sh1t that was being pulled by the banks all with government sanction it's hard to see how anyone owes more on any property than it (or similar) was worth in 2003. The negative equity can almost all be laid at the banks door they started offering the 120% mortgages etc and selling the promise that they would be repaid to bulk up their profits allt he time being cheerlead by the dept of Finance.
