I'm refusing to calm my hopes down! That result tonight strengthens us and Chelsea bigtime. Gona be some game between us and them. Chelsea will not park the bus anymore than they've done in plenty of away games this season, defencive and hard to break down while hitting us on the break. Hardly surprising. Luis and Matic sitting deep.

My only worry is that Luis got very little joy against them the last time and they've arguably the best backline in the country.

Lads, ye all sitting yourselves up for big fall and doubly if - and a big if - we beat Norwich, as Chelsea will hammer us at Anfield. They are the only team that really blow us away this season and we couldn't handle them. We are massive underdogs and haven't a hope. Just stop it.

No they didn't. The only team to do that was arsenal.

I will be a 'hape' of nerves from the very second Norwich get possession, i wont be any calmer until theres at least a 4 goal margin in our favour either. I dont know how ye can even think about the Chelsea game yet.

Plus we are playing Norwich with no Henderson and probably no Sturridge. Definitely no gimme.

No henderson is my fear we have seen we can cope without sturridge before. Henderson has played every game and we dont really have a player that can do what he does.
If sturridge is out aswell Im not sure Gerrard Lucas and Allen in midfield suits our style of play.
Would we line up 4 3 3 rather than a diamond?

Why is there so little confidence with our games?

We are the form team, won our last 10 and unbeaten in the last 15.

We have to be he favourites and Chelsea don't come out like rabid dogs. Not in them.

Rabid dogs with lasers on their back and their spit is acid.

lads and ladies, will you please give over on the negativity...for the love and honour of God we are top of the table with 4 games to go...what's to be negative about???
We are in a position that none of us ever dreamed we would be in...
4 games!!! that's all , 4 games from becoming champions.... beat Norwich Sunday, then we concentrate on Chelsea....lets not forget we have beaten them before when its really really mattered...and a little bit more self belief from some of us in here wouldn't go amiss...
but as I said Norwich first. Get 3 points....then we start to plan on Jose and his crowd....
    Keep the faith...YNWA

Massive, massive, massive. What a huge result! Without getting ahead of ourselves it is very possible that we will look back on this in a few weeks time and think "how important was that". But who knows. As Gerrard rightly says "nothing's ours yet"

A sign that no game should be taken for granted. Who knows what will happen from here on out. A lot of people talking about Palace and Chelsea as if they're our only two games left.

    No.

The game against Nowich is huge, and the game against Newcastle will almost certainly be huge, and there is no result guaranteed yet, not by a long shot.

But Chelsea and City have plenty of games to play too. Plenty of chances to slip up. Tonight I feel like we are firm favorites. A long road ahead, each 90 minutes will feel like much much longer, but we are in a really strong position and if the players can just keep going, keep doing what they've been doing, then we will be champions.

Tonight gives us that bit of breathing space and I can only see that as a boos t to the squad in terms of confidence and pressure ahead of the Norwich game. Saw some people trying to say that we were already celebrating the league against City which confused me given the reaction of Gerrard and his teamtalk. There will be zero complacency from this squad. Nobody is celebrating anything yet and there's no counting of any chickens, a lot of people must not have listened to what he said.

The only thing that can hold us back is the pressure, and I believe some of that was relieved tonight. But the dynamic has changed somewhat - in the space of less than a week we have gone from somewhat freerolling to suddenly having a lot to lose. Mentality is huge here. Dal with it. One step at a time. Try to play with intensity bug also be relaxed. It's a big test.

Side note, thank **** we didn't sign Conor Wickham, what a job he may have done for us tonight

Do ye all remember how bad we all felt on January 31st when the Konoplyanko deal fell through and we had signed nobody? That was a meltdown, so what do we call this?

    A meltup?!!!!

Its been said before but what a turn around in the fortunes of Jordan Henderson. From a point where he could have left as make-weight in the Dempsey deal to now we are dreading playing 3 games without him and his magic skipping boots

This season will be a big fail if we can't win the league now. Having said that I think we will demolish Norwich.

I think the team spent their nerves against City. The build up to that game, on that weekend, the atmosphere, the title up for grabs and the pace of the first 35 mins took its toll. The team looked jaded in the first part of the second half... Gerrard could hardly run. I'm not surprised city walked in two goals. It was a massive performance to win that game. Huge. Dare I say it bigger than CL 2005 from an energy sapping point of view. They got through that and should now have enough metal to get the title.

    C'mon!

Sorry if already posted but just saw on twitter:

    Thatcher is dead,
    Fergie retired,
And Liverpool top of the league.

Bollocks to that, the season is already an unprecedented success tbh, 4th was the aim, 3rd was a dream. And if we fall a couple of points short off 1st and people moan/call it a failure ill go nuts.

One more point to guarantee fourth.

Even if we don't win the thing, at least we reached the ceiling

Eh how is it unprecedented? We've been in the top four before, nearly won it with Rafa. Won how many trophies? We are not Aston Villa. When Liverpool are top with four games to go the expectation is to win it.

When anyone, I don't care whether its Liverpool, Newcastle or Hull are top with four games to go, the expectation is to win it.

The success of five, ten or thirty years ago is irrelevant to today's capabilities. For this team, it is unprecedented, if not for the club

Not sure how long this will last on Youtube but the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on Hillsborough is now available:

    Part 1 is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnzxknqWR1k

The documentary is put together unbelievably well like all 30 for 30 docs. This is by far the best Hillsborough documentary that I have ever seen, and my god it makes me angry.

I have no idea how any Liverpool fan who was there that day, especially in the Leppings Lane end, could live with the pure lies and deceit by the South Yorkshire Police. The cover ups, the blatant lies, the assumptions of fans being drunk causing the crush, the lack of co-ordination by Duckingfield in the control tower, the 3:15pm cut off point.

That documentary made me very, very angry and I hope for the sake of all the family members of the 96 who lost their lives, that they get true justice in the form of the new inquest, they truly deserve it.

That's the difference with me then... Its always about the club. The team is employed to win the league every year. You can't call the mentality and culture of a club irrelevant. That's what sets the expectation. Sure you can have minimum goals like 4th but the expectation is always to win.

I've been going to matches since the mid eighties and it's no fluke that we are top. We deserve to be there, we shouldn't be surprised to be there after the way we have played this season. That is why it will be a fail if we don't win.

I'm just trying to put a bit if belief into you nervous wrecks. :-)

Did you see the game at The Bridge ?

I did, it was over 4 months ago and it has no relevance on the game that's coming.
Didn't Arsenal beat us at The Emirates and then we hammered them in Anfield?

Form has been turned on it's head.

    Our confidence is sky high
We're the home team. The ground will be rocking.

    The momentum is with Liverpool.

I can't wait but looking forward to the Norwich game first.
