I usually don't comment on this subject but everything about that service was brilliant.

Also I have to mention, Sky News' Kay Burley interrupted the live coverage to state on-air that Sky News distanced themselves from the comments Martinez made. I know, I know typical.

Apologies for bringing a negative comment to the table but it had to be mentioned.

I only saw Martinez talking about his childhood memories of seeing it happen, then echoing his chairman's words last year about the authorities taking on the wrong city, then that Everton will be erecting a permanent memorial.

What else did he say, that Sky would need to distance themselves from?

I presume it was "What happened afterwards was not right or fair", while there are inquests still going on.

It was that and the following quote
"As my Chairman said last year, they picked the wrong city if they thought they would get away with that."

All media outlets have been warned by the inquest judge not to report anything that could prejudice the proceedings. I think BBC showed a delayed feed so they could cut anything out that might do this. Sky should probably have done likewise.

They did and advised viewers/listeners beforehand that they were doing it. Even their online articles were edited to avoid anything prejudicial, one in particular was an interview with Bruce Grobbelaar where it was specifically mentioned that parts were removed due to the inquests.

Was watching "With Hope In Our Hearts" on LFC tv last night. It was heartbreaking seeing the families relive their memories of loved ones they lost that day.

I thought the United Facebook page's picture was nice.

Most people we know would fight til the end for their family's honour, if they were so badly mistreated and then insulted after they had passed in the worst way. People outside the club and fanbase being supportive, in even simply paying their respects must give the families a lift.

I thought martinez speach was good yesterday fair play to him, then brendan congratulated him and said it couldnt have been easy for him coming here, brendan had some great things to say about kenny too which was a nice touch, but the speech of the day has to go to andy burnham

Watched the ceremony last night. Really nice. Really fitting. Martinez is a class act and so is Rodgers.

I've not clicked play on that, but it's names Martinez & Rodgers - I was asking about Andy Burnham's speech, is it included there?

Ah so this is why lfctv cut the live coverage just before the speeches, then had delayed coverage, i was wondering alright, very strange or stupid then that sky showed it, someone in aditing will be in trouble there then!!

Had to do that, BBC also cut away at parts so they could edit anything out of the speeches, same with LFC TV did not show it all Live

They have to be careful with the inquest going on

What did Martinez say that Kay Burley felt the need to distance Sky from??

As for Hillsborough, I don't get why so many Irish lads get all high and mighty about it- A tragedy yes, a horrific day that saddens every football fan and I remember it well, stood in my white crown paints kit on a beautiful sunny day. While it will always be a poignant memory, I really feel it is the City of Liverpool's... You see Irish lads with JFT96 tattoos and it addles me, the same with the closed forum yesterday...Anyway, enough of that. I did watch some footage back of the day yesterday, the match of the day particularly, horrific viewing. I then followed it up with the Bradford fire video, a disaster often overlooked, just as horrific. What was just as sad however, was the amount of utd fans I saw on other forums, using Heysel to score points when it had nothing to do with Hillsborough....Football really does bring out something odd in lot's of us... My own little princess went from a mixture of laughing at me last Sunday, such was my emotional state for the last 15 mins, to taking pics, to accusing me of loving Liverpool more than her when the final whistle went. I guess some of that answers my question about why Irish lads feel so strong about Hillsborough, it's a tribalism thing.... We go to Norwich. Exactly the same. We go again. Come on!!!

It's because the fans of the club, regardless of wherever they are based, share equally in the good and the bad times. If it's ok to be emotional and excited by the football why is it not ok to be upset and sad by the memory of 96 fellow reds who lost their lives attending a game supporting the club we love? Some people get a bit OTT when we win/lose a game and the same might apply to their reaction to Hillsborough etc, it's just human nature, we're not all the same.

There but for the grace of God......

Caught most of the service on my lunchbreak yesterday and found a link on BBC website to watch the rest of it when I got back to my desk.

The speeches from Martinez and Rodgers were superb, especially BR mentioning all Kenny had done at the time of the disaster. Last season (especially at the start) I thought Rodgers talked too much and spoofed a bit but this season with every interview/soundbite/speech I hear from him I like him that little bit more. Martinez is the same, always respectful to his club and other clubs.

Had to choke back the tears a couple of times watching it I must admit.

It would be fitting, in this of all years, to win the Premier League tho if we fail to finish first I hope nobody sees this season as a failure or a reason to feel dejected. We've made unbelievable progress from around January '13. The good times are back at this club, make no mistake about it!

I'm not gonna turn it into a huge debate, It wouldn't be allowed develop anyway, but i'm not on about feeling empathy or sad, you would expect that from any football fan, it's a few steps above that but we'll leave it there.

If Brendan Rodgers can win the Premier League title with Liverpool this season, some of his fellow managers will not be happy.
While José Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini have been bickering over whose club is more like a little horse and Arsène Wenger has been complaining about the way his rivals spend their money, Rodgers has been accelerating past them with a team that is paid less money but wins more matches and scores more goals.
Liverpool pay their players handsomely – on average €4.1 million per man per year – but those figures are some way short of the annual salaries paid by Arsenal (€4.72 million), Chelsea (€4.83 million), Manchester United (€5.21 million) and Manchester City (€6.4 million).
