Parking on outskirts of Cork City ( Fermoy side)

If the thoughts of driving into Cork city centre are terrifying you, I would argue that you probably shouldn't be driving a car at all.

In answer to your question, I can't really think of any handy spots on that side of town.

I'll give a shout out for the park n ride, it's made for you I think.

Come through the tunnel and take the third exit to Kinsale Road Roundabout and take the second or third exit off the roundabout and the PNR is in that block of land ~ should be signposted.

Park and a bus into town for a €5.

Best option, I would think is to park on St Patrick's Quay carpark. It is easily accessible from the tunnel, basically a straight road from when you turn off at the roundabout at the tunnel (Dunkettle interchange). From there you could probably would be within walking distance of where you need to go.

I'm not a fan of the Kinsale roundabout and probably would avoid it if I wasn't familiar with it and you would need to go through that if going to the park and ride- but that's just my personal opinion

Hi bear, I would also second the person who said to park on Penrose Quay.

Yes, you'll have to drive a bit into the city centre, however you won't be anywhere close to heavy traffic or complicated one way streets.

From the maps I've provided, the car park has a back entrance / exit which will make it earlier for you to get out onto the Lower Glanmire Road.

From the Dunkettle Roundabout, where motorway meet the Tunnel, you avoid the tunnel and drive into Cork on a very direct route via Tivoli, with the river on your left.

Cork's one-way system can be a chore for visitors. But if you do decide to use tunnel and South Ring Road the suburbs off the South Ring Road would be suitable - Blackrock, Mahon, Douglas. Buses and free on-street parking readily available too.
