making a complaint to irish rail

Hi there. Can anybody advise me on the proper avenues for making a complaint to irish rail about concerns about train delays and antisocial behaviour on the waterford to dublin line.

Write a letter and fold it in to a paper airplane. Far more productive. Irish Rail either don't read, don't acknowledge or don't tackle complaints.

If you want any chance of them taking your complaint seriously or at least making it appear they're taking it seriously, make sure it's all public. Twitter, their FB page etc. Then if they ask you to send a letter, write a letter and ask for a reply.

They do respond to complaints generally by email or even by talking to customer relations. Doing twitter and FB is pointless as you don't get a personal response and the information is only passed on to customer relations.

If there is anti social behaviour on board a train then use the on train panic button to notify the train driver. You could also call 999/112 if it's serious enough to warrant same; ie an assault or vandalim. There has been numerous delays on the Waterford line due to passengers being removed from trains.

From my experience, they don't unless there's a risk of the public seeing them ignore a complaint.

I have nearly always have a formal response.

Thank you for your response. I do agree but sometimes you don't want the agro of rrporting somebodym my issue is more to do with how peope are gettin bags of cans and wine onto the train if there is a ban on some services.

email them at info@irishrail.ie or ring them at 1850366222 or pick up and fill in a feedback form from any station.

This can be a common issue and some security don't want to do a lot about it. Were there security on the services it was banned?

Yes. I am talkin about 6 trips iv done in the last 12 months and some had the ban, sone hadnt but on every return journey there was beer lairiness so i just want to find out what they are doing to prevent the problem bar putting a ban im place and mute security

Make sure that you tell them as to what service you were on. If there was beer taken on the dry train then checks are not done properly prior to boarding and must be addressed. There is no point in just telling people on the web site about the dry train and then not following it up. There is nothing wrong in drinking on trains but some just dont have any respect for other passengers.

I've found that tweeting Irish Rail about people using platform 7 @ Connolly as a toilet has seen pretty much immediate response from station staff.

not confined to the Waterford Line.
I had the misfortune to travel on the Dublin - Wexford line, day return, Easter Sunday 2013with people like that. A dry train, these 4 'gents' brought their own six packs. Played rap intermixed with rebel songs, all the way to Wexford. They sat down near my table in the same carriage.
Also had to travel back with the same gang on the return journey to Dublin. But they were in a different carriage this time, at least. I went down to Wexford to see the Model Railway show. It was grand.
But won't be travelling down by rail, or bus, this time around.

forgot to mention I took the train down day return to Waterford, Saturday just gone. took 7.25 am train from Heuston, which left at 7.35, and then 14.50 hours train back. Both journeys uneventful, just growling dog on return leg.

And in broad daylight around 1pm today, two people got on a Commuter train at Connolly and without a care in the world in front of other passengers started doing something drug related(involving flattened tin foil, rolling tobacco and a lighter) while openly sarcastically reading the "CCTV is fitted" notice. They didn't cause any trouble and the train was only going to Pearse, but the lack of respect for anything is astonishing.

sorry to hear that, this nonsense wouldn't have been tolerated back in the old days when we had other staff on the trains apart from the driver, the rosslare line train crews especially wouldn't have taken any nonsense from ferrel riff raff, now with mostly driver only people can more or less do what they like
