The Bryan doc is back up on ps3 for anyone interested. Be nice to see more of these. Original content and exclusives will probably sell the network better than the video library I'm sorry to say. The Voices of Wrestling podcast men suggested they do a "special event" airing exclusively on the network rather than PPV+network. I'd imagine we're a bit away from that right now though.

when the network was announced officially first it was supposed to be "between $12 and $14 a month" and offering "11 out of 12 live ppvs"

there is an chance they may go back to this if the numbers arent what they wanted! and they can call the $9.99 "a special introductory offer"

There is no way they would do this. With my VPN plus the exchange rate Im paying just over 9.99 a month and to be honest whilst having constant access to a huge catalogue I have yet to see a reason to keep me renewing my subscription after the first six months unless they start producing more original content such as the Bryan doc and Legends Of Wrestlemania.

Confirmed by Meltzer and Alvarez on audio this week that price will likely go to $12 or $13 within a year.

Dont see me ordering another PPV from Sky now :)

lol good stuff. I got ABUSE for saying they're not hitting their target and would likely take WM31 off the network.

Which show did Alvarez and Meltzer confirm the price is going up? Last one I listened to they said a price hike was being considered but every analyst on podcasts etc. has been saying that they should look at upping it from 9.99.

Another Euro or two wouldn't bother me too much as long as they continue to pile on new (old) content and don't go mad with taking stuff down or adding things for a limited period a la Netflix.

I don't really take Meltzer's word as gospel like a lot do. At the end of the day while he's usually the most reliable wrestling news guy out there he's also reported a boatload of things that weren't true. I'll believe it when I see it. It doesn't really make sense financially at the moment though. They need 1 million by the end of the year to break even, besides Summerslam not many more are going to sign up in bulk during the year until they expand into more markets and when that happens presumably their costs will rise.

Why risk sacrificing the audience you already have and badly need by upping the price? Any potential extra revenue made by upping the price would be slim to none because demand will drop. As I've said before, the key is in original programming, it's what made Hulu work, it's what made Netflix a global phenomenon. Also the fact that Raw and Smackdown is three months behind at the moment does nothing to help them. It might be true that raising the fee is their plan, but I'm telling you all right now, it's a hugely flawed plan that won't work.

Yeah, I can't see them upping the price in it's first year. Seems incredibly greedy. The $9.99 is a tantalising price point. By the way, the target was 1 million subs was for US alone. The 2/3 of a million already includes ~15% international so they'll have trouble reaching a million total. I'd be more worried of making sure SummerSlam is great because they need people to renew their subscription. Sept-Dec last year was diabolical. Even if current WWE TV (RAW, SD) doesn't really factor into the Network, I'd bet the overall quality of the product is a big factor in convincing people to buy.

I've just watched andre hogan at mania III and for one of the biggest match in history its a poor enough match. It hardly a mat classic.

HA! Prior to 1989 the PPVs were in generally the drizzling s***s. Mania IV especially. 15-minute rest hold ending in a time limit draw for Rude & Roberts. Then another 9 matches left! For shame!

I know hogan wasn't a mat technican (at least in the US) and andre wasn't in the best of shape after back surgery.
I've also seen it written that someone was amazed that hogan slammed andre. i mean hogan slammed andre because andre let him. If andre had decided to **** with hogan and sandbagged him, hogan wouldn't have lifted andre.

Ah yeah. That would've been hilarious. For about 10 seconds! Andre's mobility was a quick descent in the 80s. Like they wrestled a few times before WM3 and Andre moved around so much better, jumping for splashes and getting his foot up for the boot etc. Even by Mania 1 he didn't have any business in the ring. He could barely walk, wrestlers had to bump around him. It's really sad.

I take you've heard the wrestlemania IV wwf magazine **** up where they released the wrong edition ?

Chris Harrington's analysis on the Network are highly worth reading http://whatculture.com/author/chris-harrington

The threat of Andre shooting on Hogan at Mania 3 is one of those religious myths WWE spin now and then. Wasn't a chance of it happening. Andre was always booked strong with a very long unbeaten streak so him putting Hogan over clean as a heel was big for the time. As Jay said, they worked together years prior and some of the matches are on Hogan's DVDs.

Why is this? In case I broadcast the PPVs on big screens via my phone?

This week, WWE Network will debut a four part series titled "Wrestlemania 30 Fallout" featuring different matches and post-bout interviews about the show. Thanks to everyone who sent that along.

The Warrior special on The Network will actually be a four part series as well. As I noted earlier this week, WWE had a camera crew following Warrior and his family in New Orleans, so it should be interesting to see how much of that material is used.

That's great news for WWE, should help them reach their subscriber targets.
