Worst pain you've had

What was the most pain you've ever been in?
    What happened to you?

I have a high pain threshold but gallstones are horrific.

If you've had them, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
When you get a gallstone attack, you think it's never going to end. You go hot and cold all over, you're sweating one minute, then freezing the next, then this burning, gnawing twisting pain starts right under your breastbone and radiates through your back.

Lying down makes it worse and the only way I could sit was cross-legged on my bed, rocking back and forth like Linda Blair.
Vomiting was the only way I could get relief.

The pain can last for hours and enduring it is torturous. You really feel your body cannot cope with this pain and I remember a woman who'd had gallstones saying to me "I've had six children. I'd rather have all six of them again, one after the other, than endure a gallstone attack."

So what's the worst pain you've experienced?

Poured a full kettle of boiling water on my finger as there was a hole in the glass that I was making a hot whiskey in (no, not that hole).

    It was owwy.

But as they say, 'a sore finger is a sore thing, but a sore thing isn't a sore finger.'

Burst appendix, the pain built up for 3 days before I finally relented and went to the hospital.

Barefoot, stood on upturned mobile phone plug.

Spent the next ten minutes creating several new compound-swearwords, mixing blasphemy, profanity and references to illegal sexual practices.

After being bucked off a 15hh horse and landing on hard ground in a sitting position, must have been a 6' drop. Pulled a muscle in my thigh and woke up every morning for a week after in a lot of pain the same as if I was ran over by a train

    Period pre-pill.

I know there are things more painful, but for me this is the worst I've felt in my life. It wasn't just the pain though, it was made much worse due to the other symptoms (severe pain in my head, chest, bowels, vagina, all the muscles around my uterus, while simultaneously wretching uncontrollably, having diarrhoea, not being able to move except to squirm around on the floor and going through the ol' sweaty/cold/hot/cold/sweaty shakes at the same time makes it much worse!).

I was in A&E last night with a fractured larynx, seems people die from that, the cissies. Pfft. I wandered out to get coffee. I appear to attract horrific injuries that ought to kill me but don't. I reckon even God has it in for me. The A&E actually phoned asking the missus to talk me into coming back in. Nurofen is your only man.

Try doing it with a rusty nail that goes though your foot.

    Torn ankle ligaments.

That is shocking bad. And the fecking sound is desperate too.

Not me, but I remember Hugh from my class in secondary school dislocating his thigh bone on the hurling field one Fri afternoon.

    He squealed like a girl.

The paramedics quickly arrived on the scene though. Snapped that thigh bone right back to whet it belonged.

Only Prob is, they trapped (forgive me, it was twenty ago) his nut or something in the joint socket.

He squealed like a lady then.

Toothache is the worst pain I've felt. I've been burned pierced broke arms ribs you name it. Now through fear I go to the dentist every 6 months and brush 2-3 times a day, floss and mouthwash.

panic attacks , feeling like your about to die lasting hours at a time , some one after another . and anything can trigger mine . symptoms can be anything really , depends on the person. sometimes singing karaoke or exercise can cause me to have one , or if i hear a person talk very fast it can trigger it.

In all seriousness the time I ate a large amount of cheese and had severe stomach cramps, even woke me up out of my sleep

Yeah I get this sometimes, it comes on unpredictably and you feel like you're dying for 2 days. I fainted in public from the pain. Discovering codine has helped enormously.

I was flying to Egypt via Schipol with KLM.
I suffer a little with sinuses but I was good at the time. As we were descending into Amsterdam they altered the pressure in the plane as usual.
I had a sharp stabbing pain around my left eye. The pain was incredible, it felt like I had a red hot molten pinball bursting through my eye socket. The pain didn't let up for an hour or so and the tears were pouring out of just one eye like a waterfall.

I must have had some kind of blockage in the sinus canals that run just over the socket and it just pressurised ready to blow out.

I have flown hundreds of times before and after without this happening, so God damn you KLM.

I had a headache for another day, but that fortnight in Egypt was awe inspiring.

    Childbirth, pfft.

I once sneezed hard after breaking a rib the day before, the pain was so bad I passed out right there in Woodies, next to the compost.

Snap. Gallstones are the worst. My strategy was to stab myself in the eye with a compass for mild pain diversion
