To be honest I question the IQ of those who get scammed, i know one girl who responded to an online ad for a puppy for €100, coming from none other than Nigeria. She sends it off by western union and the shnake asks for more cash

    Anyone have similar stories?

Some phishing emails have gotten really good - be really careful with anything that asks for your details or for you to click links, check the sender address as that will almost always give you a good indication of whether what you received was legitimate or not. Nearly got caught out once or twice.

I went out to get a pint of milk the other night, and when I got home and opened the bag, it was a laptop!!
Can't make a decent cuppa with that...

    They got me twice.

Susan 26 Dublin didn't want to ... meet me after all. The money I spent on plane tickets.

The giant wanger pills didn't give me a giant wanger.

I lost $15.00 in a scam once. I know it isn't a lot of money but it was the mid-eighties and I had very little cash at the time.

Stupidly, I had sent the money in to one of those newpaper ads advertising how to earn extra cash at home. I never realized at the time it meant their home.

There was a Prime time special on people getting scammed with the "dodgy draft, get the tax book, sell it on quick to the next lad" scam. There was a couple on, faces blacked out, and I kinda went, jasus, sorry for ye, but feck sake, etc etc.. next day one of the lads who worked for me asked if I had seen the programme..I was about to launch into the whole "yeah, the feckin eej.." when I bit my tongue and he goes "that was me and the missus, the feckers got us for thousands.." And it gutted them and ruined their whole year financially, especially as she was due a second kid shortly afterwards.

TLDR: Scammers are scum who damage peoples lives, nice, decent, ordinary people, people just like you and me. Cnuts.

Getting scammed once can happen to anyone and anyone who 'questions the IQ' sounds like a bit of a pompous arsehole to me.
It's those who get scammed time and time again that I wonder about

Totally agree, the best scams are the ones you never hear about or see, some very intelligent people out there who can manipulate money out of people, even if they're not the dopes people make them out to be.

Absolutely. There are plenty of scams out there in action that even the smartest people will be drawn in by, no matter what they say.
It's not always as simple as a western union transfer that people seem to assume.

I know of a fellow that arranged a mail order bride but was too cheap to go to the post office to collect her.

My 'friends' asked their friends over for a few drinks one Friday evening. Turned out they wanted them to invest in a hotel room pyramid scheme they had going.

    Some friends.

Filmed by it or bought one that turned out to be a plonker? I bought a "Sony" video camera out in the Canaries that turned out to be a piece of crap when I took it out of the box. TBH, I was kinda impressed more than pee'd off. Them lads were slick. The "Sony" bit was in my head, so I conned myself, as is usually the case. Cheap? Normally nasty.

Plenty of entertaining stories here of people scamming the scammers, not just catching them out but really nailing them. Worth a read...

I will be the first to say I am easy to scam. (And I will not be responding to your pms after this post nor shall I be looking at responses offering cute puppies and kittens from Nigeria).

I tend to assume the best in people and see the world through rose tinted glasses.

And now I must escape your nefarious scamming clutches and not look in this thread again.
